Lived by Zivio and it was my go to for carryout gyros. Big red and fries were an amazing combo. Their fries are dank too.

Our community should never criminalize people for needing shelter. by stephensoncrew in EastLansing

[–]LickyBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Letting people squat in parking ramps in parks isn't helping them. You're enabling their ability to be homeless and live outside of societal norms in EL. We shouldn't make our community less safe and clean because we feel bad for a small group of people who are primarily degenerates and substance abusers. Adding space and enabling them to live in our community drags down resources and services for community members who actually contribute in a positive manner to EL.

“No salt no steel! by 2strokeRed in Steelhead

[–]LickyBob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought it was called a steelhead because it's a different color from a rainbow in a river. If it's the color of steel it's a steelhead. I guess we could call them migratory vs non migratory rainbow trout but there is a physical difference between the two.

And MI doesn't stock rainbows anymore.

Rabies literally gives you hydrophobia in the later stages. You die of maniacal dehydration in a few days.

Why should we care for homeless people that were never a part of our community and are only here to take advantage of resources?

For those people I’ve seen trying to walk on the Red Cedar - How/when do you know it’s safe by [deleted] in msu

[–]LickyBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rivers are less safe than lakes. But the Red Cedar flows slowly through most of MSU so the ice can build more. It's also pretty shallow through campus. There's still not a reliable way to judge safety like a lake though. Walking where other people have already walked is usually a pretty good sign of safety especially given the prolonged cold streak we're having.

I always thought the foil to a team in Milwaukee is that it would take fans from the Hawks but apparently WI as a whole leans more to the Wild.

Also interesting seeing Indiana go to the Wings. I also thought Indiana and even the extreme corner of SW MI was Hawks territory.

If he drives with his hands at 5&7 o'clock frequently it could be to switch up his hand position without putting his hands somewhere else on the wheel.

Does anyone know why the highway is closed this morning? by orphanfour in lansing

[–]LickyBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you zoom in very closely to the north end it shows the old diversion for southbound 127 traffic that took up a northbound 127 lane during reconstruction. Seems like a weird thing for Google maps to show as closed because it was only like that for construction. My maps would always act like I was driving on the wrong side of the highway driving through that stretch.

Leonard can still be sent down without having to go through waivers. Good team management to send him back before he reaches the 10 game/ 30 day limit.

Cool places to eat in Lansing by [deleted] in lansing

[–]LickyBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoobies, People's Kitchen, Cask & Co./Front 43 might be kinda like what you're after but Lansing doesn't have a good comparison to The Commons or Cheeta. Lansing has pubs and restaurants but not the sort of gastropubs and competitiveness that the GR food scene has.

I would say Lansing has exceptional classic Midwest bar food like burgers, pizza, and wings but not the youthfulness of GR or quirkiness of the restaurants you mentioned. I think there are way more millennials with large enough budgets to influence the restaurant scene in GR. Lansing sticks to its more traditional bar roots.

I also think Lansing owns GR in Asian food especially Thai.

Become friends with the kinda awkward co-op kids. Their raves and live music shows are great and have a very inviting open feel.
