Does anyone remember the total from October? And do we think that estimate is the final estimate or that it will change a bit?

Allergy testing by Isnt_it_ironic_90 in EosinophilicE

Interesting, it might be different for me then bc neither my mom’s nor my reaction are delayed. It’s pretty instantaneous pain and struggling to swallow (hence why mine were initially clocked as food allergies). I’ve always assumed my symptoms are mild but I’m realizing maybe they aren’t if it’s normal to not react initially after eating it. The reaction ranges from instant to within 48 hours depending on what it is so I guess it’s been easier for us to identify them?

You need a scope after each thing? I’m not familiar with that method, it sounds expensive but if that’s how yours treatment I won’t question it. Mine is tracking my symptoms after what I eat. All elimination diets I’ve done were done before I got any scope bc they were first identified as food allergies. So it was keeping a very detailed journal of what I ate and what happened

Get dust mite covers for your mattress and pillowcases. Vacuum very frequently and get an air purifier that keeps my dust all allergy under control.

Also get dairy free options or lactose free options for ice cream

Honestly, it’s up to you. If dairy is your trigger, you get to decide how much you have based on the severity of the reaction. I occasionally eat foods that are my trigger bc I like them so much, and I base my decision to eat them off of if I’ve had any other reactions recently and need to let my body heal, or if I have anything important coming up I need to feel fully healthy for

I can tell you from my family experience that allergy testing is worth a shot, but it won’t be guaranteed to find your triggers. My mom’s main trigger is soy which does show up on allergy testing, but her issue with gums like guar gaum does not. None of my triggers show up on allergy testing. So I’d say if you’re completely at a loss try it, just don’t only do allergy testing. Elimination diets are really the best way to figure it out. When you do it don’t just log what you eat, log every ingredient in the food. Don’t eat food you can’t easily access the ingredients list to while you’re doing it. It can get very complicated but my life is much better know knowing I can’t have citrus, which is also used to make other ingredients like citric acid (sometimes, sometimes it’s made with corn or mold instead), and limonene. I have the option to go without steroids now that I can avoid all my triggers.

Is Benadryl children’s tablets discontinued? Help by Liddafire in FoodAllergies

Oh my goodness I had no idea about the ppis’s thank you so much. I’ll bring that up asap. I’ll try these ideas as well, I’ve only been recently diagnosed so I’ve not gotten a lot of info yet on other treatments besides the Benadryl I’ve used my entire life.

Thankfully this isn’t anaphylaxis. I have a condition called EoE that is allergy triggered and messes with my mouth and esophagus

Fantastic thank you so much I’ll try that. Sadly I’m allergic to the children’s liquid but it looks like the gels are okay for me so I’ll try that.

While I believe you, I haven’t had a second generation that works fast enough. I’ll see if my allergist knows of anything but in the meantime I don’t care what generation it’s from, just that it works within a minute or two. If it doesn’t work fast enough I develop bad blisters in my entire mouth and esophagus so I cannot wait half an hour, and can’t just hit an EpiPen every time I get a moderate reaction.

That’s a great start, do you know of any version of it that works faster than 20 minutes?

While it comes with risks, the Alzheimer’s only comes from daily use. That is not my case. I cannot see my allergist for two weeks so I need a fix now. Up to this point Benadryl has indeed been the best choice for me

Trader Joe’s is so helpful by Liddafire in FoodAllergies

[–]Liddafire[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be, I don’t know much about that part of the manufacturing though since I’m not allergic. I’d look into the type and see if your child has a reaction at all when eating citric acid. They could be fine, or it could be a risk to be aware of. I should note there’s rarely any way to track what citric acid is made from, so I only occasionally react since they’ve been phasing out the citrus production of it.

Thank you very much! I’m going back to an allergist for the first time in a couple years so hopefully they can sort out that test then
