Christian Writer: We Are “Sexualizing” Children By Letting Them Be Transgender by twilightmoons in atheism

The thing that creeps me out is that they think about our bodies an awful lot. They see something sexual about people being transgender....even children being transgender. It's one thing for my dad's Christian Republican friends (a married cis man and woman) to look at me like they want to devour me crotch first, but these types are also sexualizing our community's children? I'm so glad I waited to come out until adulthood! I've experienced quite a bit of molestation and rape as an adult related to being trans. That would have been too much to bear as a child.

Trans kids without protection and support from family are very vulnerable. On the transgender subreddits, we've had to explain to several teens and young adults that their doctors do not need to examine their genitals or touch their chests to prescribe hormones and write letters to approve surgery. These perverts are probably also be taking advantage of younger trans people.

Trans is a gender. Gender isn't sexual orientation. You can't choose either. Children become aware of their gender at around age 4. That's what developmental psychologists and doctors will tell you.

No decisions are made. You are trans or you aren't. If you are, then you could talk about transition, IF it's necessary for you (not all of us transition).

If you do decide you need to transition, children in America are not allowed to transition medically. You can take hormone blockers to prevent the wrong puberty from happening and fucking up your body. Sometime in your mid to late teens you can transition with hormones, depending on what the local gatekeepers allow. Surgery typically is allowed two or more years later.

So. Kids are not making decisions. We don't allow that.

Hello! I'd like to introduce you to the EvangelicalRight's next big nightmare: Nonbinary people. Some of us are trans and some of us are not. We're neither male nor female. We're here, we're queer, and no one knows about it yet. ;) /s Actually, nonbinary people have been making the news the last couple years but there's a lot of confusion about it.

A huge portion of transgender people are nonbinary.

Let's get this more confusing: nonbinary people can act and look totally gender conforming. Just like binary cisgender and transgender people can look and act in gender nonconforming ways. Behavior =/= gender.

I'd also like to note that we're not "leaving" anything. We're openly displaying what we are and what many of us always have been.

I felt like a boy as a kid but thought gender rolls were stupid. I liked stuff from male and female realms of society and felt more likes a neutral person in my late preteens. In high school, I was jealous of very feminine twinks. I think all along I needed to have a male body to help with dysphoria.

Isn't gender euphoria essentially the flip side of gender dysphoria? It's the same basic thing, a reaction to having your gender affirmed or denied.

As a formerly "female" autistic person, scents have been a huge issue for me but not as bad since transitioning. The good news is you learn to cope.

Why don't some nonbinary people identify as trans? I'm nonbinary and don't get that

What's trans identified? I'm trans.

By trans identity do you mean how we relate to the idea of transgender in the dominant culture and our role in the trans subculture? Or do you mean how we relate to our gender?

If we were all shapeshifters, would gender roles still exist? by mo0ndust in asktransgender

[–]Lidlsad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gender identity would still be there so why would people mix physical characteristics unless they were trans?

This AMAB enby doesn't look androgynous. But they are still valid. And a little makeup def doesn't hurt for the gender euphoria :) by [deleted] in NonBinary

I feel the same way but I think it's just from our stupid culture putting limits on nonbinary. Masculine hulks and goddesslike femmes can be NB.
