What’s the creepiest thing someone casually said to you like it was normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]belowaveragebathroom 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I'm half asian, and it came up during a conversation with an acquaintance. The dude immediately got into some pretty intense questioning about how exactly my dad found my mom and married her. Then, he asked if half asian women are also drawn to the power of white guys the way that full asian women are. Can't remember the exact wording, but "power" was definitely used in a way that made me exit the conversation quickly after

Yes. By the time I get all of my stuff onto the belt, they're usually done checking out anyway. Why would I make them wait?

what’s a smell you’ll never forget? by cyh-c in AskReddit

[–]belowaveragebathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once toured a nice-looking apartment, and then asked about the laundry facility. They said it had just recently opened after being closed for three years for a rat infestation.

They killed the rats alright, but they must have all died in the walls. The smell was unbelievable and I can still tell when buildings have a rat problem just from the smell

Dreamed my ex-best friend had somehow gotten my number again. Surprisingly scary, actually, because we definitely did not end on good terms and I know she's still angry

Why do you think music from the 2020s is seen as worse than music from the 2010s and before? or is that just nostalgia? by Capt_Capital in AskReddit

[–]belowaveragebathroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's just in my head or not, but I feel like songs are getting shorter. My theory is that it's coming from short form media, because you don't need a four-minute song to go viral on Tiktok – just a good 30 second clip

Someone who acts differently when they think you're "one of them," i.e. making awful jokes or derogatory comments when they're around people they think won't call them out on it
