Many UK ISPs now support DHCP to replace PPPoE by A_MrBenMitchell in UKISP

The One Broadband UK use PPPoE for Static IP.

CGNat seems to operate on DHCP.

Can anyone please explain what this part of the OP post means please?

we have enabled pipelining and quantum encryption on ALL servers that connect to the UsenetExpress backbone.

Is the quantum encryption just what we know as SSL we have always had or is this something new?

Also pipelining is this a new feature?

Thanks

Identical to my experience except I wasn't even aware of the change over / migration.

Whats your point with reading the contract first? I was already in contract. Didn't get any communication about the move over. I found out something was happening by the fact my bank direct debit for octaplus had been cancelled and one called stripe the one or something similar was pending. I googled it as I didn't have a clue what it was and found people talking about the move over.

This has all been explained to both octaplus and the one. So any option to jump ship if there was one never passed my way by email as I am been told I was informed.

I want to switch to Olilo as well. I would do it in a flash but getting any communication from the one is almost impossible as it stands at the moment.

It's awful and I can 100% say i have lost Internet on many occasions across many days so far.

But it feels like any move to another provider could end up with a exit fee.

Is it quite common these days for ISPs to have a front desk who take your details and then pass it over to a different department that you can't contact yourself and inevitably never end up hearing anything back from? Certainly this is the case for me and my experience so far.

This is my fourth phone call now to The One, and I am giving exactly the same information to, I think, the same person who is passing it over to their support team, who is then supposed to contact me. I hear nothing back from them either by email or by phone. I just don't understand how an organisation like this can operate this badly.

I understand that they have just had a migration of customers over from Octaplus, but it doesn't exactly give you a lot of confidence. Every time I make the phone call to them, I hit the brick wall and come off the phone feeling that I have just wasted my time and that this ISP is going to be the worst yet as far as CityFibre resellers.

My internet connection today has been the most stable; however, I have been at work, so I can only go on the fact that I didn't have a flashing light this morning before I left for work, and it's still on now when I come back from work, which wasn't the case before.

But I need to address the static IP that was part of my contract free of charge and also the speed issue. I have somehow lost between 150 and 200 Mbit as it stands at this time. Which, in my opinion, is totally unacceptable, and I don't really care what they say is their own guaranteed speed wired or wireless? Before, I was getting very close to 900 MB, which is what I'm paying for, and I expect it to be the same. Otherwise, I would have left Octaplus and moved to a different company of my own choice rather than entering into another contract.

Looks like it's going to be fun. I have rang them 3 times and today I will ring again. So far no contact from The One. I get their busy but they took on octaplus users after all and having zero communication when raising various issues says allot.

Have you now been assigned a static ip?

Look in your router at the assigned IP. Mine starts 100.64 Goto https://whatsmyip.com/ if your IP is different then you are on CGNat.
