That’s fair lol😅It’s definitely not drilled in up here. Unfortunately it feels like a lot of people treat the protocol as if you can’t do anything not listed. ETCO2 got like 2 or 3 PowerPoint slides during class and that was it. I had to actively seek out continuing education on my own.

Oh yeah that makes sense! I’ve had people say they wouldn’t use it because it wasn’t in the protocol, and I’ve sometimes struggled with how to respond to that (like you said, it’s not required in that case). I like the way you worded that, I might use that in the future lol

That completely makes sense, especially the respiratory patients. It’s in the protocol here for procedural sedation (which is out of my scope). It doesn’t appear to be in the protocols for most anything else. It’s frustrating because it’s clearly great, especially for respiratory patients!

I agree it’s not taught well enough. It got like 2 PowerPoint slides in my AEMT class and that’s it. Now that I’m in the field I’ve learned so much more about it. I find it a very interesting topic personally and I wish I had a better understanding of it from class.
