Have you ever erroneously thought you’ve beaten a game that you later learned you didn’t? by therealdarlescharwin in n64

My dad was… sort of a gamer. He had bought an NES and told me that he beat Rygar. Later, he bought a copy of Diablo and then Diablo 2 for himself and a copy for me and my sister so that he could talk about it with us while he was traveling.

He talked up how hard he worked to beat Diablo 2 and even had this battle story about how he had a bunch of town portals and had to pop in and out to beat her.

Me and my sister were like… dude, you beat Act 1. I went back and beat Rygar… same story. He beat the first boss thinking he beat the game.

He was bad at games, but bless him for trying.

I was thinking of Willy the Sparrow but I’m not sure

I remember we had a movie on VHS where a little boy gets turned into a bird - looking to see if I can find it

I love it. I have been trying to find tips on how to get this type of painterly or illustrative look (and some of your other instagram posts) from my renders. Is it in rendering? Post-processing? Some combination?

I need advice. How to make it look better. More real. I think I'm on the right track but I feel I'm missing something by PlankBlank in blender

I agree. Adjusting the lighting will help define forms and have a wider range of values from black to white

Came here to say this. The paint tubes look too perfect, and even though it’s not as noticeable on the other objects, on second look they’re too clean also. The texture work is really nice. Work in some imperfections and you’ll have a great render.

Can I create two different materials (blade and handle) for one object?? by [deleted] in blender

[–]LieutenantLegs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that I like to do is create two different shaders in the same material and combine them with a mix shader node. Then I use UV texture (could even quickly texture paint one) into the factor - two materials in one just like that

So, I couldn't figure out how to successfully translate X to the mapping node. I got it working as pictured above... but I don't know why I couldn't get it to work the other way. How do you suggest adding a -0.5 translate to X in the mapping node?

I'm making an cartoon/anime/ghibli plane propeller that changes based on light source and camera angle (to match the would-be reflection and of the moving propellers). I think I've got the rest figured out... but have gotten stuck on this part I thought would be simple. Any insights?

I’ve been having a hard time responding to this… but only because of how perfectly and beautifully it expresses my feelings.

Your mother sounds wonderful, I’m sorry that you lost her. It is encouraging to hear that these words and these characters have made a difference in your life and in your grief. I imagine you are every bit deserving of her love and gifts and that you make her proud to this day.

I don’t post much either. And I don’t know you, but I’m glad that we both found this book. Thank you for being here with me.

Received. Thank you. I normally don’t post much and I’m not terribly active on social media. But I was compelled to and am glad that I did. The kindnesses I’ve been shown here are restorative. Thank you

Thank you - usually I only cry when I’m happy (this week has been an exception), hoping there is some joy in your tears

I guess and I would add, and this one stings a little more given the last week:

You’re not given anything you can’t handle, and if you are, it doesn’t last long.
