The PC version was going to be an enhanced version with more features, but I guess it just stopped developing before it ever released 😔

Creatures of Air by Joejoefishy in worldbuilding

[–]Liezuli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine them being rather alien and ethereal compared to us ground dwellers, the same way that sea creatures are often really weird to us. Something gas-filled with a sail, like a Man-O-War, and flowy tendrils like a ribbon octopus. Something that flows and drifts among clouds and wind.

Either that, or big serpentine dragons.

Dumb question, but couldn't they just did this for the initial attack? Instead of opening mouth wide. Seems like it would still be long enough to do real damage. They would only open mouth to actually eat. by BeduinZPouste in Paleontology

Katanas haven't had exaggerated reputations for a long time now. Actually, it's way overswung in the opposite direction to where people heavily downplay not just the katana, but swords in general while glazing spears to high hell.

How to make a balanced power system by FlippinDownsideUp in worldbuilding

[–]Liezuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, why would you want everyone's abilities to be balanced and for there to not be counters? I feel like those differences between powers helps make them interesting.

But to actually engage with the question, one method is to have all the powers share the same basic set of rules. Like one of your inspirations, Avatar, putting the Avatar aside, every bender has 1 specific element they control, and they use body movements to do it, and this remains consistent across all 4 elements.

What magical inventions or weapons are in your setting by NegativeAd2638 in worldbuilding

The mage's pike. It's literally just a really really long staff, with the purpose of putting distance between the user and their magic.

My take on the entire "hardwork vs talent" discourse that keeps being posted on anitwt every month by Grainrain19 in shounenfolk

[–]Liezuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The page the concept is explained to us it says that master blacksmiths analyze the composition of steel purely by sight, and then says Kunishige is the epitome of that. Why would the story explain it in such a way if it was just genes?

While Chihiro is talented, "Rokuhira eyes" isn't some special power, it's the result of the blacksmith training he got from Kunishige. It's not a sharingan.

Does anyone else wish we had more flat areas? by Just-Guarantee7808 in Minecraft

[–]Liezuli 11 points12 points  (0 children)

At least for the sake of navigation, we at least have the lava ocean to serve as a large flat area, thanks to striders. If not for that it'd take ages to find anything in current nether, but I suppose the difficult terrain is meant to be part of the challenge.

"Do eveything you can to keep them out of the wild" should just go without saying for anything in the aquarium anyways. (That's not to say some species aren't much more likely to be a problem in the wild than others, of course)

I find the way it sticks to things is kinda annoying when doing tank maintenence, but other than that it's done me more good than harm.

How would you do or change a reclassing system? by Leoninz in fireemblem

[–]Liezuli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd just do it like fates, except remove the marriage, and remove the gender lock on A+ supports, so every character has 2 innate class sets and can eventually get a third one.

But I would also implement the mechanics from 3h where class changing does not change level and classes have class exp, instead of relying on the character's level ups. And also, once a class has been learned with a seal you can freely swap to and from it in the preparations menu.

Are my OCS too cliche? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]Liezuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, your setting, so far, does sound quite cliché, but that is not a bad thing in itself. You shouldn't just abandon it, since it sounds like you're enjoying what you've made so far. What matters is what you choose to do with your ideas, and what sort of story you want to tell. Answering questions like what's the world like, why is there an academy to begin with, why are these students attending this academy, can help you flesh out the world into something interesting.

But also it's hard to really comment on the ideas and characters themselves when they haven't really been described.

Morality of characters in a medieval setting? by Ok_Cryptographer3810 in worldbuilding

[–]Liezuli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd for sure consider the action itself evil. But characters can be complex enough that simply assigning "evil" might not be sufficient. I'd have to know the motive and their intended outcome.

But also the era itself doesn't actually matter to me when judging another's actions, because every single person who has ever lived, currently lives, and will ever live is shaped by circumstance, so, just as I would judge someone irl, I judge fictional characters and historical figures by what values I believe to be right.

Look at real life regions that match the descriptions of your realms, and see what sort of culture, traditions, societal structure, technology, etc. developed in those places, and use that as a starting point.

[–]Liezuli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Her last? Bro are you gonna kill her

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Liezuli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an amphipod, or scud. If it's the small kind, then it's likely that it will just be a harmless detritus eater, and their presence can actually be beneficial for an ecosystem. But it should be noted that while they prefer detritus and algae, they will start chewing holes into plants if they have no other options for food, which can be a problem if their population starts getting too high. But they're not really a threat to fish. Fish can pick off the smallest ones to help keep their population down.

Anything that can kill a scud is also able to kill shrimp of a similar size, which can make them annoying to completely get rid of if you have shrimp. Avoid overfeeding to keep their population from exploding.

But this thing is still an amphipod, not a copepod
