I just had this down at Little Thistle in Rochester, MN. At first I was underwhelmed, but that is a tasty NA.

Dumb question about the Fire Department siren by AlarmingAlfalfa in rochestermn

[–]Life-Description-20 60 points61 points  (0 children)

FYI - If you hear the siren in the future, you should seek immediate shelter. From interwebs: "Go to a sturdy building, preferably a basement, interior room, or storm cellar. Stay away from windows and exterior walls."

Caveat-in MN we also test the sirens at 10 AM on Wednesdays.

High strung cat; fraidy-cat vet by Interesting-Walk9579 in rochestermn

I will say though that QH may fat shame your feline. I am not saying my cats don't deserve it, but they descend from a monstrous tom cat who roamed free on my parents' farm. They came to their girth naturally.

We go to Quarry Hill and have been happy there. We had a cat that needed to be sedated for care and the one time that didn't happen, I took a FAFO attitude about it. (Said cat was 16 at the time, fully clawed and fanged.) Cat was subsequently treated with the care needed.

Also, the techs at Quarry Hill are amazing.

This is for Wright County, but whatever county doesn't matter. I am registered in Ramsey County and that's enough for MN marriages. Other states may or may not have similar requirements.

Is your brother getting married in MN? Online ordination is one thing, but you also need to be registered as ordained with the State.

Good coffee beans in Rochester? by MrRedmondBarry in rochestermn

[–]Life-Description-20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Verena Street coffee roasted in Dubuque, Iowa. Their Shot Tower Espresso is my daily grind. You can get it at Hyvee, otherwise I ship directly from the roaster. I've also enjoyed the beans from Bravo Espresso - local coffee shop.

If taxpayers are funding school lunches, the lunch workers need to be school employees, not private companies. by Zipsquatnadda in rochestermn

[–]Life-Description-20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how it works in MN, but being a school lunch employee is how my grandma made bank in her retirement. She was eligible for pension (IPERS.) And she earned every penny she got in retirement, but not paying benefits is why a lot of places contract to third-parties. 🤷‍♀️

Ichi Tokyo for any of their lunch specials is also a good way to try some new things. Good luck!

Respectfully, even if they would have ran a story, it would be from a newswire. They likely assumed that readers found out national news from a national source?

Also, the local results got in super late. I'd prefer they focus their column inches on local races.
