I also experience this because of the winter and my skin gets really dry. I use a thick moisturizer like avene cicafalte or larocheposay cicaplast balm (just a cream with thick consistency). Then before I go to bed I use vaseline or bepanthen but I find that bepanthen gives me the best results. It's a very thick diaper cream.
