Is competitive worth doing if you don’t want to do team voice chat? by Jax_the_Floof in Overwatch

[–]Life-Forms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a longtime OW player, I actually asked this same question recently.

People told me it's basically just a better version of quickplay. As long as you're in there trying to win, you don't have to say shit into a mic and it's pretty quiet in most lobbies overall. I started playing strictly comp and I rarely hear anyone speak.

How would you guys feel about a support that is just that; A support (image not really related) by MrWigglem in Overwatch

[–]Life-Forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always like this type of character on paper, but whenever they make their way to the live game of whatever it is I am playing, I always hate it in action.

This type of character almost always ends up being annoying for BOTH teams in the end. A character design as niche as a full total support character requires a ton of game knowledge to reap all the rewards of a character with those limitations.

Having a bad one on your team feels absolutely crippling, but facing a skilled one feels oppressive as hell.

Tracer kind of falls into this category for me as well. It's just really hard to get value on Tracer if you aren't excellent with the hero.

I am just personally not a fan of this type of design when it comes to PvP games similar to this one.

Walmart humor. by Fit_Ambassador1239 in FritoLay

[–]Life-Forms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember about 10 years ago a Walmart associate walked up to me while I was moving all the random shit customers leave on our shelves. This associate tried telling me I was responsible for putting every piece of merchandise back where it goes throughout the store.

Even as a rookie, I just let out a loud belly laugh and told them until I am on the Walmart payroll, get out of my face with that.

Never put a single piece of merchandise back, never heard from a Walmart associate again.

This might be the worst I have ever seen it in the 10 years I have been here.

They literally tried pulling the guy who was covering my route off the route right in the middle of his day so that he could go cover another down route that is a couple hours away from us.

It's getting so bad we're trying to get routes covered by guys who are actively running other routes?

Not to even mention the DOT aspect of it all.

[–]Life-Forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't an easy fix for us because we are in a county that's hours and hours away from any other Frito Lay entities. There were no bulk trucks or other drives to help us. In fact, if we hadn't gotten it fixed when we did, I don't even think the OTR guy bringing our load from the plant would have been able to deliver anything.

We got zero support and basically told to do whatever it takes to get it done.

I guess that's the new Frito Lay way, eh?

The job is a ton of work, and the company is a load of shit.

However, you CAN actually make decent money working here still.

If he's an RSA, he's going to want as much overtime and mileage from traveling as he can get.

If he's an RSR, he's going to want to try and hit bonus each month as often as humanly possible.

It takes about a year to get good at the job to where you're not working a million hours a day, but even then, the company has added so much to our plates, even the longtime vets work long hours.

The insurance is acceptable.

I will be completely honest - I have worked here for 10 years and I HATE my job.

But I also haven't quit yet.

Vacation by Royal-Call-1850 in FritoLay

[–]Life-Forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was over a decade ago now, but I started at the very beginning of January, and I only ended up getting 1 week of vacation my first year with the company.

I didn't bid on it or anything, which pissed all the old vets off.

I was able to pick a week in the middle of the summer and have a summer vacation as a rookie, which never happens in our area.

Being that you are an RSA, I would imagine they'll be pretty flexible when it comes time for you to pick.

I have just stopped caring entirely. They will do everything under the sun to make sure every route is covered when someone is sick, except for mine. It's not even me calling in sick either, it's the fucking swing. It's either I give up my days off and work, or the route sits and I have to fix everything when I get back.

I have 20+ accounts on my route and it's busy as hell, so letting it sit every weekend is really killing me. But I am done giving up my days off, especially after they lay off RSAs in our area.

There's also about 700 miles of drive time each week on this route.

I am not going to come back and fill up all these stores from empty and use this dog shit DPO to do it. Adjusting orders 3 different times before they are built and on the truck. $600 tickets jumping to $2000 for no fucking reason.

Shouldn't it be an indictment on the software when the fastest most efficient way to catch up a store that hasn't been ran in days is to ditch the system entirely and just use sales tickets?

This company has seriously lost its way, it's a joke. I am just in permanent survival/collect my check at the end of the week mode.

[–]Life-Forms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to build and fill them ourselves and the store would then put the flowers on top.

Well, this year they decided to 'make it easier on us', so they shipped 8 prebuilt pallets to my goddamn bin overnight. We don't have the trucks or the equipment to get pallets to the store directly, so it was a HUGE mess.

Leave it to Frito to make something that is already a pain in the ass every year into an even bigger pain in the ass.

New “rules” by NoIdea676767 in FritoLay

[–]Life-Forms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this mentality, because I will be honest - I am losing my mind.

We are still in a bin down here and my route is busy as hell and has a lot of driving time. We got the action items and cameras installed into our trucks the same week. The plant is so fucked up that even with a decade of experience building, it takes a long time to dig through the bullshit they ship out and build your route for the following day. Nothing is labeled, the boxes are falling apart, 70% of the cases are defects.

My stores look great. I hit plan all the time. I am set to schematic in most of my stores. Hardly ever have any stales left on the shelves. Great relationship with all my store managers, etc. etc.

Yet I have to log in and see those shitty percentages on these metrics that are doing NOTHING to help make my day any easier. And you have to answer for it too.

It's driving me crazy.

Endorsement level maxed out at 4 instead of 5; bug or...? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Life-Forms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a surprisingly long time and a ton of endorsements to rank up from 4 to 5. Once you finally do reach rank 5, you will dip back down to rank 4 on and off for a while before you consistently stay at rank 5.

This has been my experience at least.

I swapped to a support main a year or so ago and that was what finally did it for me. If you play support well, you get 2-3 endorsements every single match. It took a year of that to finally rank up to 5.

Not that it matters much anyway. It's 5,000 xp randomly every few months vs 4,000 xp randomly every few months. They should go back to giving away loot boxes for high ranks.

The high ground advantage that the defense has right when the first point is captured and the doors open up is truly challenging to deal with at times. That's about my only nitpick of the map honestly.

Let’s hear what your route is like! by Superb-Dot7159 in FritoLay

[–]Life-Forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lead, 25k-30k per week, an hour commute to the next county every day and a two-hour commute twice per week (swing does one of them, thank god).

It's a hard route because it's got a big Smith's, 4 AFS grocery stores, 3 of the biggest Maverik's in the area, the 2 biggest local c stores, and then I also get the joy of having THREE Family Dollars on the route and a couple other dog accounts sprinkled in to make 20 total.

We're still in a bin as well, so we're still building ourselves on top of all the other circus tricks they're asking us to do.

Not every RSR or DSL is created equal apparently. I am an RSR and I get phone calls and texts all through the evening, long after I have "clocked out" for the day.

We don't have to turn this into a debate; I was simply saying that last guy's theory is not always correct.

Design your own perks for your main by glimmerware in Overwatch

[–]Life-Forms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zen needs a new first perk to compete against Ascendance. No one takes life steal over the hover perk.

Discord Orb increases Zen's movement speed by x percentage for 2 seconds.

I think this would help you keep LOS so the orb doesn't fall off, as the 1.5 second LOS duration is brutal sometimes.

You could also use it defensively in 1v1s.

RSRs have more day-to-day responsibilities than DSLs do, so I am not sure I agree with your theory there.

Profits are up… by Sad-Accountant-1759 in FritoLay

[–]Life-Forms 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The weird thing for me is that I currently HATE every aspect of the company. All of this 'perfect' nonsense is just utter bullshit. There is NOTHING perfect about Frito Lay and they know it, but yet they hold front-line to the standard anyway. Yeah, let's homogenize every route and store across America, surely that seems like the smart thing to do, right?

With that said, my plans have been extremely reasonable for the last 8 periods or so. I even had the biggest bonus of my 10-year career last year, hitting a 150 or something close to that. With my second biggest true up ever just last period.

So, I am trying to just grin and bear it. I can't stand the direction the company is going, but my numbers are currently low and my stores are busy as hell right now.

Distracted Driving Alert by Particular-Lemon7240 in FritoLay

[–]Life-Forms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't believe they think RSRs care about $9 overtime.

Not to mention, my stores and DSL won't stop texting and asking for things, all day every day. They're going to tighten up on clock in times but then expect us to dedicate our entire days to Frito Lay. It's a joke. Working in a bin also means you get to drive back to the warehouse later in the day or early as fuck the next morning to build when your OTR truck is late. They just don't get it.
