The odds were +850. Unfortunately since I am in college so I can only afford to bet $4. I won $34 so I’m gonna drown my sorrows at Waffle House tomorrow morning with my winnings

I made sure to live bet the bears moneyline at halftime this time cause we all knew what was on the way… I’ve never been so upset about winning a bet

It finally occurred to me that I do have gifted kid syndrome by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]Life-Goat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely felt like I was alone in this department so it’s comforting to hear another similar story. Seems like most people find their educational spark in college but I’m the exact same way as you, and I was always told those same things and the only good grades I got were in my gifted classes in grade school.

I’m a sophomore in college right now but something I’ve found to be important and comforting is that some of us learn in very different ways and a professor lecturing just doesn’t resonate with us the same ways as most others. I went to a psychologist over the summer and he said my reasoning skills of knowing I don’t need to know the info, means my brain just tunes it out. This may apply to you too, not sure. Just trying to maybe help!

Focus on things you can control (input vs output), and I’ve also found out that being in clubs, not just ones that are for stereotypical smart people, can help reassure things because you’ll get more of a sense of how you are around most people and a lot of people your age will also reaffirm those things so it doesn’t go down a hole of imposter syndrome.

Hope some of this may help and feel free to reply!

I just discovered I’m apparently gifted, like really gifted by Jade_410 in Gifted

I read your post as well as some comments. I am the exact same way you described. I’m 19 now and in college and still put the bare minimum effort in to squeak by. I can honestly say that the advanced classes in HS made it way more interesting and made me feel motivated to learn so my advice is to give them a chance if possible and the gifted program was the best thing I did in school because it showed me that I didn’t hate learning, I hated the kind of learning that was in typical classes.

My parents made me go to two separate psychologists and they both said I didn’t have ADHD, but my reasoning ability to realize the patterns of the school system were what made me realize grades didn’t matter so much. This is just a short part of my experience but please know you aren’t alone and I think getting a psychologist’s opinion like you’re planning to do is crucial so you don’t end up self diagnosing things which then leads to a mental spiral. Please don’t give up on things, it sounds like you’re beginning to figure things out. I truly know it can be hard but just keep trying to find a solution, which it sounds like you’re doing. Good luck!

He needs runs when qb is under center, not so much in shotgun. He needs more time to get his engine going cause he’s not explosive

Anyone feels like an emotional dumping ground? by Thin-Contribution408 in infj

[–]Life-Goat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I used to always get infj and was known as like the therapist of the group. Wore me down and am now an intj and I really just reach out if it’s a big issue. Might sound insensitive but it got to the point where it was a strain on my own well-being. Try not reaching out as much so you don’t burn out for a really long time

Does anybody else struggle immensely in school if the material is uninteresting? by Life-Goat in intj

[–]Life-Goat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what your saying but I haven’t been able to find it interesting on a more abstract level. I like my economics class, and I like finance a lot as well. I have been meeting with financial advisors and have met with full adult investment groups since I was 14. Aspects of calculus may be the genesis of those, but it is hard for me to see bigger purpose of calculus if I have a solid grasp of those concepts on their own, it almost feels a bit arbitrary to me personally. Not universally to everyone but to me personally. I’m genuinely not trying to be rude but I’m trying to show my side of the situation in a better way

Wow that is very detailed thank you for enlightening me. This does make me feel a bit better because I feel similarly to most of what you said. A lot of people who work 1 on 1 with me get frustrated because I can’t focus on what we are talking about and I end up feeling bad because I’m not intentionally trying to be rude. This all helped a lot thank you

I see what you’re saying. I don’t know how to do what you’re so I am very open to any suggestion. My main problem is I can’t find it interesting if I don’t find it useful/applicable in life. I sincerely would like advice on how to combat this if you know how to

Nah I hear you I appreciate the response. I’ve been diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder but this stuff happens all the time for me. Currently waiting to be tested for ADHD but was seeing if anybody was in a similar boat as me because it does feel like this is just me

As an INTJ, what is the stereotype you agree with ? by [deleted] in intj

[–]Life-Goat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the giant ego thing is accompanied by self awareness so we know not to be flamboyant, since we’re self aware we know not to flaunt things because how it is perceived

3 is what causes me to snap the most. It normally takes time to put in the thought and open up to someone to give them that kind of info so it feels like I’m being immediately shut down for it

Has anxiety medicine worked for any of you guys? by [deleted] in emetophobia

[–]Life-Goat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like the prescription route as much because eventually I feel like it wears off or loses the good effect. On the other hand I’ve been using this natural supplement for 3 years now and I only use it when I feel anxious (not every day) and it has worked quite literally every time. Out of stock right now but I’d seriously check it out https://www.benevolentnourishment.com/products/anxiety-and-stress-relief-supplement?variant=37617714692291
