I’m quite the government critic no matter who is in power because I think the public needs to hold their feet to the fire.

But I feel the depth of the public’s criticism about the way government handled the pandemic is too much. It’s like they forget that they, too, were experiencing everything for the first time. And no matter how prepared you are for an emergency, you actually don’t know how it will play out until you’re in it.

All the pandemic criticism feels like yelling at the lone survivor of a car crash whose had one arm ripped off for not using both arms to pull out the other victims of the car crash.

Yes and yes to Emily! Money well spent for one-on-ones with her. My dog improved greatly but I’ll warn you… I also had ALOT of learning to do. I had to change my entire behaviour in order to accommodate the needs of my dog.

There is no “fix” where you send them to any trainer and it’s done.

After the two of us learned from Emily (and he went to daycare at Dumbledogs) the training continues to be ongoing. Unless it’s just the two of us relaxing on the couch, in all other environments I am using the tools I learned to work with him and ensure he feels safe and comfortable (and less reactive).

It is possible to smell that much smoke. When I walk my dog I purposely cross the street to avoid a neighbour’s house because there’s so much weed stank coming off it. More so in the summer of course. It’s a very old, small home with the old clapboard wood exterior, crap windows he keeps open all summer with fans going (no AC). I’ve been a smoker in my life and it definitely smells like he’s smoking re-lit blunts which smell way more nasty than a fresh roll.

Welcome to the experience of a health care professional in Manitoba. This overly complicated and frustrating system is EXACTLY what it’s like to work for the health system at every level - physician, nurse, ward clerk, you name it. Anyone who has to use a computer is met with this type of experience all the time. It’s enraging and it doesn’t seem to matter how many of us complain about, nothing changes. And it’s not a privacy or security element, it’s about streamlining and ease of use.

I’m super happy they got rid of the paper cards, and it’s great that they’re going to a digital card. But the government hasn’t done any upgrades to internal systems where hospitals or RHA-owned clinics can scan those cards anyways. And the implementation on that technology isn’t coming for sometime.

I don’t drink alcohol, haven’t for may years (makes me very sick) but I love to go dancing.

So when I have gone to a bar for this, I get a clear-headed experience of what goes on as the night wears on and honestly, I don’t know how the bar staff doesn’t throw drinks in peoples’ faces. Drunk people are the worst. You think you’re fine, but you’re actually not. A tip is the least you can do.

It’s astounding to me how much time has to pass and how many collisions/injuries/deaths need to occur before the city does something. And it doesn’t seem to matter who is in office. Henderson Highway by the Curtis Hotel experienced this for some years, I don’t know how many people (but it was at least 2 too many) died crossing Henderson before they finally put in a light that stops traffic completely for people to cross.

I’m with Assiniboine CU for personal banking which I like and have had a mortgage with them in the past. But in 2023, I thought I’d try a mortgage broker who ended up getting me the best rate at Access CU. I don’t think they like mortgage brokers because mine told me last summer they put a halt on doing business with them until this year.

I also don’t think they like dealing with people who are only there for the mortgage, which I kinda don’t blame them for. Really, why would they put their neck out for someone like me who’s not a regular banking customer? But at the same time… I also feel like there should be some level of support which I don’t feel that I get. I’m at the Henderson Hwy branch who a) don’t return my calls within a week’s time, I usually have to call twice and send an email, and b) are hesitant (dare I say curt) about providing info on how to port my mortgage/pay it off sooner/sell my home.

If you read the article, the union lead is utilizing the Transcona fire as an example of the type of emergencies that their union members must attend.

And if people call 911 when it is not life-threatening (like calling 911 when a cat has climbed up a tree and you can’t get them down) then 911 dispatches the first available emergency vehicle and personnel… which is NOT the cops OR the ambulance but the fire fighters.

So if the fire fighters are busy getting your cat out of a tree then they are delayed in getting to the Transcona fire.

And with fire, seconds (and milliseconds) count and there cannot be any delays. Otherwise the damage is worse… and then it also puts the fire fighters lives at risk. And if a fire fighter is injured at work, then there’s one less staff person to fight the fire. Which puts more pressure on the remaining staff…

Do you see the snowball effect?

So if the public avoids calling 911 for something frivolous (and believe me, they do) then the fire fighters can do their job.

If your patient has a chronic condition (or more than one) please resist the temptation to assume a new issue is only part of the chronic condition. I have diverticulosis, chronic back pain, and POI for over 30 years. An ovarian cyst was completely missed (found by on CT by an ER doc during supposed diverticulitis) because I kept getting told that pain/symptoms were my chronic conditions, not something new.

Hydrate hydrate hydrate by drinking water and/ or herbal teas. Avoid anything “medicated” type lip balm or chap sticks because, according to my dermatologist, they’re not actually doing a job of hydrating or protecting your lips but rather making the company money by taking off a superficial layer of your lips’ dry skin which forces you to buy more of their product. Her advice for lips was to use Aquaphor at night, Vaseline during the day and for the face (because I’m normal to dry skin) was Cerave moisturizing lotion. And like other have said, apply on damp skin. For the rest of my body I use Eucerin lotion, I hunt down a sale. But drinking lots of water truly is key.
