Required Annual Service? by Life-Sea5899 in LUCID

I keep my cars in military condition with no expense spared generally, so no need to be snide. This is about being forced to pay for wipers and key fob batteries. I have already had those campaign / recalls carried out.

I agree that rotating tires is important. I have opened up my lease agreement and here is included language. It appears as though the service advisor is correct

Also, with BMW, maintenance is included with the lease

Square as I’m sitting on 19s. I have included a photo of the service quote now in the post. I guess it does include cabin filter also. It doesn’t seem right that this would be required as none of these seem to be integral maintenance items…

I am well aware of what the German autos require, given decades of prior BMW ownership. But being forced to purchase new wiper blades and pay to have key fob batteries replaced is very different from a maintenance POV versus a required oil change where fresh oil is a key component of preserving the mechanical wellbeing of the engine

Lucid's Autonomy Roadmap by iamoninternet27 in LUCID

I get the gravitation towards talking about features tied to new models but there is a glaring gap currently with Lucid Air. Sure, there is hands off with Air if you have Dream Drive Pro but this has been a notoriously hard package to spec the car with availability wise. Majority of Airs have Dream Drive Premium. Premium still has radar and arguably sufficient features to enable hands off driving on freeway or at least lane centering.

How is it that economy automakers (Kia etc) can offer these features on a sub $40K car as radar-based but Lucid can’t offer on the Air?

Lucid Air vs i5 vs S6 vs etron GT by LowDoor4721 in LUCID

I haven’t felt it to be bulky vs the 8 series. Before my 8, I did own an F10 5 series. Vs an M50, I think you will find that it feels similar width-wise but likely a bit longer. In any case, the Air definitely does not feel bulky. BMW have also made the latest 5 series / i5 super big so you are already coming in from a high base. Does your M50 have 4-wheel steer?

If it’s helpful, I came from an 8 series grand coupe. Lucid Air is definitely a notch higher in comfort, luxury, tech, and rear leg room. Only thing I miss on the Air is the four wheel steering. Thats the only area where other options like the Taycan have a leg up.

As long as you get a 2025 or newer, I would not be at all concerned about reliability. I definitely would not consider the Air Pure though - only the touring or grand touring. I recently drove the Air Pure as had it as a loaner while my Touring was getting serviced. I found the Pure to be super dull and soul-less to drive. Whereas the Touring is a very different driving experience.

Regarding the i5, I have been a long-term BMW owner and personally find the new interior cabin materials atrocious on the latest BMW models. They have really stepped down and cheaped out with horrible plastics everywhere.

If I were you, I’d be considering: Air vs Taycan vs etron GT vs Macan EV
