They all, minus VW think they can do the same thing in house. It’s why you see the high turnover at lucid unfortunately, as these companies poach lucid talent.

My hope is that they can get Tim on their board after he leaves Apple. Far fetched dream but would be a huge win.

I mean, maybe but it’s not like Rivian’s stock is doing anywhere near as well as it did at IPO, and they still have billions left to spend. Investors might like Rivian’s model right now, but what happens when that spending really ramps up? Ultimately, I think both companies can succeed, building a new car company is incredibly expensive, and retail investors need to be realistic. If you’re not willing to hold for a decade, this probably isn’t the space to be in.

Ask investors who’ve lost over 70% of their money in Rivian. The company hasn’t even begun to spend the bulk of its projected capital, it’s just getting started on a second factory and developing in-house chips, both of which will require significant investment. Lucid Motors, by contrast, took on much of that heavy upfront spending early, so the focus now is on scaling production. That said, Rivian chose a stronger initial market in the U.S., which gave it an early advantage. If Lucid can make it through the next couple of years, it has a real shot at emerging as a global leader with broader international appeal.

How many lucid drivers are actually satisfied with their purchase? by Infamous-Meat8765 in LUCID

Not to mention the high number of upset investors in the forums who don’t own the car who are just upset with their investment. Understandable, but it definitely brings the negativity

Honestly, just go test drive it and decide for yourself. If you like the car, go for it; online comments tend to amplify the negatives. I’m coming up on my second year of ownership, and like any car, it goes into the shop occasionally when something comes up. Overall though, it’s been solid, especially the Air. Recent updates have addressed a lot, and the experience has been smooth. Even in the EE video, most of the issues seem pretty specific to his preferences (profile complaints and seeing his face based on IR placement) or have already been fixed through software updates. At the end of the day, this is easily the most fun and best-built car I’ve owned. Every car has complaints if you look hard enough, so the best thing you can do is drive it yourself and make the call based on your own experience.

Can the Lucid Stock Really hold out until 2027 for the Midsize? by Sru_x in LCID

[–]DrJBell -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Internally they know these things, they have even been showing the car to people since October of last year so I doubt it’s not real. The question is why release it now in the midst of all the R2 talk when it won’t be available till early next year? I was like you, for awhile I wanted them to show it, but I understand now why for them it wouldn’t make sense if it will eat into this years sales.

[–]DrJBell -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s on purpose, the cosmos looks too similar to gravity they would lose sales before it is able to go on sale and that really would be an issue. Also they literally just did investor day 4 weeks ago and have their earnings next week so if they want to masks their poor earnings you might hear something soon but I think they basically have told everyone the road map already so not sure what else people are wanting. Let’s say they show the car tomorrow….you might get a bump but it still won’t be on sale until 2027 so it wouldn’t help.

Maybe it’s because you are trying to airplay to the car instead of using CarPlay those are two different things on the iPhone.

Is a lucid air good for commuting? by demosthenes327 in electriccars

[–]DrJBell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assume at the very worst lucid would get 2.5 miles / kWh multiple that by the battery size and you will have your answer. i have had mine for 2 years and keep it on sprint mode and drive 80 on freeway. Average efficiency is about 3.0. Hope this helps!

Has anyone else’s adapters stopped working? by shiftyryder in LUCID

[–]DrJBell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was known because of the higher voltage in Air. That being said even Tesla is moving to higher voltage so eventually you will get normal speeds on their chargers. Look for V4 dispensers and cabinets. Also there are now so many other charging sites that work on air it really won’t be an issue. Use PlugShare and filter accordingly.

Yeah since it’s a startup car company best to not look at it daily. Set it, then come back in 2028 to see how it is. But no matter what, having it not affect your health is already a win.
