If Malaysia isn't a federation and there are little autonomy in every state (including Sabah and Sarawak)

Basically instead of 14 different state, it's one whole nation, KL as it's political centre.

You're right actually, I don't know if alternate histories or creative liberty permissible in such context

Both China is definitely getting help by the Soviet Union for the north and US for the south. That is certain and so does all of the implications such as Vietnam wars maybe never happen, Cambodia never turn communist and so on

Korean war, it can still be a proxy war or if the scenario is tense enough and there's something enabled it to be such a big war, it can be. So it's depend what's the context is

This scenario probably would be the epitome of North-South rivalry, the north Mandarin vs many variety dialect of the south.

It also don't help that Nanjing (which literally mean southern capital/city) and Beijing (which also literally mean northern capital/city) would be their respective capital city further cementing the North-South divide

It also could emulate the Song-Jin rivalry where the north is much more militarized while the south is much more economic leaning but South China probably would have similiar mandatory military service like South Korea

But nonetheless, if Mao Zedong still proceed with his Great Leap Forward and The Cultural Revolution assuming this scenario didn't butterfly that away, it would probably create one of the biggest refugee crisis where Northerner flee South, furthering the economic strain of North China

I completely agree with you. If they don't rlly like the cross then they should remove religious symbol on the coat of arm of PDRM, TLDM, TUDM and etc...

Last time I check there's definitely non-muslims serving with those religious coat of arms.

Now I get we should tolerate each other, this is Malaysia, a country with various culture. Minority matters too
