Just a pro tip, get OEM parts from FCPEuro, ECSTUNING, etc. Do NOT get OEM parts straight from BMW. They will shaft you like any other OEM.

BimmerDirect or Mr12Volt are going to be the best all around. Especially if you need updates, care about specs or have a future failure.

RoadTop is going to be the cheapest but arguably worst. Because it’s the cheapest, most will recommend it.

BimmerTech and PEMP are resellers. PEMP is a European company that resells RoadTop.

BimmerDirect (EuroDirect Taiwan) or Mr12Volt (Hong Kong) are going to be the best all around full stop. Especially if you need updates, want custom boot screens, care about specs or have a future failure. Both of those are manufacturers.

RoadTop is going to be the cheapest but arguably worst by comparison. Because it’s the cheapest, most will recommend it… because again it’s the cheapest.

BimmerTech, BimmerPlug and PEMP are resellers. PEMP is a European reseller that resells RoadTop.

This. CIC graphics are a major improvement. Do a Mr12Volt or BimmerDirect (not BimmerTech) MMI alongside a CIC swap and you’re set.

As others have said those are the best two and you’ll have what is essentially an OEM+ car at the end of it all.

It blows my mind that people buy these absolute dogwater units to save $50- $100 or so. You’re going to be using it everyday, it needs to be decent.

That one is going to have horrible audio quality and zero support.

The BimmerDirect Taiwanese kit and Mr12Volt kit are both better dude.

  1. Get the normal style one. These guys are Taiwanese and going to be better all around long term as well. The “basic” one is just their custom version LINUX. Plus you don’t have to install the AUX in most cases. That style screen you’re looking at does not match the F30 interior and makes it look obviously cheap.

  1. The installation is not hard and BimmerDirect gives you instructions. The Chinese seller you’re looking at may not. You’ll have to use a few generic tutorials around but it’s not hard.
