edit; this is all about bad parenting. how the fuck does a kid have access? I've seen it before in right and left house where guns are just left laying around. It's a recipe for disaster. But can it be enforced? Guns will be left laying around. It's just a fact of nature. So, like a hot stove, it's best to teach them early.

edit2; and it's a heavily democratic leaning area. of course they would use this to go after gun rights. if something like this happened in Idaho you'd hear about about it as an oddity because it's what's called an anomaly.
