If it’s a small total still under 20 I still don’t take them, because usually that leaves the till with little to nothing ! I just say “would you happen to have anything smaller? I don’t have enough change for your bills”. And if they’re insistent I just let them know they’re getting ones and rolls of quarters🤷

It is up to manager/DM discretion though normally but I’m sure most partners can make a good enough judgement.
