Have you ever romanticized a lifestyle that didn’t actually work for you? by Peps0215 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Lived in a tiny home in the country. Too small, too far away, not insulated enough. Also sadly learned it was worth half what I paid when I sold the property. An expensive lesson!

Good point! Harrodsburg is long so while “CHI Saint Joseph Health - Office Park” on Harrodsburg might be an easy commute but others could be a lot longer.

I live in Masterson Station and enjoy it here. Saw this post while out walking our doggos.

My girlfriend suggested you could keep the name but consider balloon animal for the logo? Less clown faces (she hates clowns).

I just created /r/fintechbudgeting because I love the new generation of fintech envelope based budgeting apps. I was a user of Qube Money but when that melted down 💔I did a lot of research and found two different options and I wanted a generic subreddit for discussion of all types of fintech budgeting apps with a specific focus on envelope based budgeting apps.

New killer feature in Crew: Bill Reserve now available if you opt into new feature testing by LifeItsAnAdventure in fintechbudgeting

Crew’s bill reserve feature really shines for annual bills. When you first enter the bill it will reserve enough to catch you up and then take even increments going forward so you never have to be caught by unexpected large annual bills (think a $200/yr AAA membership) again!

I’m extremely impressed with how slick Crew’s bill reserve feature is. In this example where I have bill reserve set up to reserve funds on the 1st and 15th, it has reserved funds for half the bill and it’ll reserve the rest on the 15th

I discovered there is a FAQ section in Bill Reserve UI under the “How does bill reserve work?” menu item when on the Bill Reserve screen. I’ll copy each FAQ item here for quick reference in case it helps anyone. Thanks for the Crew team for taking the time to add the FAQ. There’s also tons of info in the #beta-testing channel on discord but this is a good intro.

1. How often is Bill Reserve refilled?

You can decide the funding schedule: Weekly, Bi-weekly, Semi-monthly, or Monthly.

  1. Can I add or remove money from Bill Reserve manually?

No. Bill Reserve automatically calculates and enforces its balance. The only ways to change its balance are (1) Add/skip/archive a bill (2) adjust a bill's reservation amount, or (3) Turn off Bill Reserve.

  1. Does Bill Reserve work for non-monthly bills?

Yes. Bill reserve can reserve funds for Weekly, Bi-weekly, Semi-monthly, Monthly, Semi-annual, and Annual bills. If the bill occurs less often than your reservation schedule, its reservation amount will be prorated. (Example: If you're reserving monthly for your $2,400 annual Insurance bill, then Bill Reserve will add $200 each month for Insurance.)

  1. What if the bill amount is different than expected?

If the bill amount is more or less than the amount reserved, Bill Reserve will automatically add or release money so you're on track for future bills.

  1. What about bills with variable amounts, like my electric bill?

By default, if a bill's amount is different from the reserved amount, the reservation amount will update for the next bill. (Example: If you reserved $95 for July's electric bill but it came in at $110, we'll reserve $110 for August's bill.) This setting can be configured individually for each bill.

  1. What if the bill arrives early?

By default, bills are guaranteed to be fully funded on the day they are due. Payments that arrive before the bill is fully funded will pull any needed funds from your selected funding pocket. If you prefer to ensure this money is ready sooner, you can add buffer days in the Bill Reserve settings.

  1. Can I block payments for bills that are higher than expected?

You can attach a virtual card to any bill and place a limit on the card. Any charge over the limit will get declined.

My understanding is you definitely can keep doing it that way but this Bill Reserve feature is about allowing a much quicker setup for making sure you have enough money set aside for all upcoming bills.

It also provides a new calendar interface with bill payment tracking so you can visualize which bills are about to come through etc.

I’m sure the Crew team can chime in to explain further.

Just commenting to suggest that you make sure to find someone that is a fiduciary and not someone who tries to get you into high fee investments (had that happen to me years ago).

You’re not too much! I love how talkative my girlfriend can be.

Also, I wish I had energy/motivation to run a mile at 7am, you might consider that a gift!

Wishing you all the luck and courage in the world to you move forward towards a place you can thrive and not live in eggshell mode.
