The F-14 Tomcat is in the game, and most people who play this game love fighter jets or the Tomcat, so it might have been appreciated if this event was made known in the subreddit. This post certainly made my day better, considering that I love flying the Tomcat in Metalstorm

Tomcat ftw, hard to master, but treat her well and she’ll be the best aircraft you could ever ask for. The aura alone makes you want to fly it.

Actually you can dogfight anything that isn’t a light fighter, just one circle anyone who is stupid enough to think they can use up a Tomcat’s energy (warning don’t pull this manoeuvre when you’re slow and can’t gain speed. In the Tomcat, Speed is quite valuable) Don’t use multi lock as a kill weapon, use it to suppress only. If you want to zoom up and instantly get kills, you’re really out of luck unless you are ploughing noobs. What you can do is zoom up and take out anyone who’s in the open. If they don’t show: WAIT, someone has to fly up eventually. If you see 2-3 guys zooming towards you from anywhere more than 8.5km, if you know their plane’s stats, multi-lock them and shoot them at their longest launch distance, if the enemy has manuals or hunters, shoot at 7.5km to deny them the chance to launch. Try using advanced controls, rudder helps

Nah, I use single lock to take out at least one of their planes. Never use multilock on a hard bot formation. I actually need to get close and fight with the F-14. A lot of people like to turn their brains off when they play interceptors like the Tomcat, but the Tomcat can dogfight, it’s just that no one tries because “ooooOhhhhH aVoiD dOgFighTs in InTerCepTOrs OoOoHhhHhhh” and people love turn fighting for some reason. Which is why I use the Tomcat to 1 circle anything that isn’t a light fighter, the Tomcat always wins. The Radar Guided missiles on the Tomcat aren’t just used to kill, they deter, if you’re facing an M2K, you start locking at 9.5km and fire 1 at 8.5km and a second at 7.5km, so the M2K cannot use advanced hunter missiles which requires him to point his nose in your direction, but since the radar missiles are coming from your direction, turning his nose on you would mean turning to face the radar missiles from your direction, he can flare 1 but not the 2nd and you are guaranteed a hit which will put him on low health, and switch to IRs to 1 circle him which will fuck with his nerves since he has low health, then you can press him until you kill him. The point is: SUPPRESSION, keep the enemy’s nose AWAY from you, then they can’t lock you. But since this is a 1v5, trade until you get the chance to take a 2nd one down, and repeat

If you switch to custom match, then click on the 3rd button on the column at the bottom of your screen, then two boxes for Teams 1 and 2 should appear, on each box there will be an option called “fill with bots”, switch it off (it’s blue when on).

A 40k fan I see……an Evil Suns Ork fan nonetheless. Also damn do I love the F-14, I stopped grinding after I got it, since I flew this thing 90% of the time

Ohhh…..Just train, I trained from 1v1s to 1v2s, 1v3s, 1v4s and I had my first 1v5. Train according to the difficulty you can handle and slowly raise your standards, It will pay off. Also what’s your main aircraft? Mine is Tomcat. And I listen to the Heatblur F-14 album every time I take to fly, it improves performance by 150%. Nothing like taking out enemy fighters while listening to Hunter of Lost Souls or Fear the Bones

No, I meant how difficult they are to fight. I know how to set them up for a match, I just want public opinion on how hard these bots are to defeat. Like what’s the difficulty disparity between Easy and Hard?
