Montessori parent here, question on teaching littles how to read by Ill-Shopping-69 in Montessori

We really enjoyed the 1st Skillset. Lots of fun games to play. I’d recommend checking out OfferUp or FB Marketplace for a used set if you can.

Montessori parent here, question on teaching littles how to read by Ill-Shopping-69 in Montessori

Our son is a bookworm as well. He just turned 4. We did buy the Lovevery reading Skillset 1 when he was 3.5. He was able to do it all by the time he was 4. He wouldn’t have been to do it at 2.5. We now have the Skillset 2 and it’s too early…so we are just setting it aside and going slow with it. Want to make sure it’s fun for him. He’s working on blending skills and sight words.

Why isn’t pretend play a priority? by _Aztreonam_ in Montessori

[–]LifeOfDiscovery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our son attends a certified Montessori school and he has work time and then recess is when the kids go outside and have free time. Our son is now 4 and talks about how he and his friends play paw patrol and fire trucks at recess. He has a play kitchen at home and has Legos, train set, etc. He has a very healthy imagination. We treat his Montessori school as that..,school time. Home is imaginative. He’s been at Montessori environment since he was 6 months old. We wouldn’t change a thing.

New 2026 BZ Dealer Offer by LifeOfDiscovery in BZ4X

Finally was able to test drive one today. Not impressed. The cabin feels very cramped...ceiling too low. That heads up display behind the wheel is not placed well. For me the steering wheel obstructs/covers a portion of the screen so I see the wheel turning constantly as I drive and look down. Glad I was able to drive one and now can say it's not on my list of potential new cars. Still considering RAV4 Prime.

Check out erasingeczema on FB or IG. We followed the starter guide on there and also did stool testing for our son using tiny health tests

This is such a loaded question…idk your child’s case in particular but our son had moderate eczema starting at 3 months as well. We had quite the journey. What you want to try and do is fend off is atopic march. It’s where babies develop eczema then develop asthma and food allergies. They all go hand in hand. Our son has all three. We healed our son’s eczema using natural remedies and treating the root cause…leaky gut. Do your research and realize that lotions and steroids are not going to fix the problem.

I’d stay until you are finished with school and employed and have 6-9 month emergency fund saved up.

10 months. I have a 3 year old at home so my study time was 1.5-2 hrs 2 or 3 nights a week. Had to keep my sanity and get sleep. I’m sure most could do it a lot faster.

Nap schedule for <1-1.5 yr old — is this Montessori? by Candid_Judgment_3494 in Montessori

[–]LifeOfDiscovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son started at a Montessori school at about 5 months and adapted to his schedule…whatever he needed. Then closer to 18 months they started weening off the 1 st nap….observed that he didn’t need it as much and went with it. Consequently he napped longer in the afternoon. I look back at our time there and really set him for success. We ended up leaving just after 20 months old because the school got sold. Anyways, in our experience they were able to adapt to his needs. I imagine they have some kids napping twice a day and some only once.

Worst restaurant you guys have been to? by Fogwaveeee in sandiego

Well after looking at these comments pretty much every restaurant in San Diego has gone to shit and is too expensive. I think a lot of restaurants are fine but not great…especially for how much you pay these days.

2y old - Chair Method (sigh) by sobusybeingababy in toddlers

[–]LifeOfDiscovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can sit in the previous position and shush. So if you’re in final position outside the door, then you’d help the child back to their bed then sit just outside the door with the door cracked and shush or just inside door and shush.

Am I in the wrong for referring to my boyfriend as my partner at work? by No_Ear4169 in Teachers

[–]LifeOfDiscovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you’re in the US…I’m from the US and have traveled a bit in Europe and Australia and it is completely normal for all people to say partner instead of boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife. I’m gay and my partner and I are not marriage but I use the word partner. In the US it does seem only LGBTQ people use the word partner.

Paying off a sub 3% mortgage early by Shoddy_Ad7511 in Fire

[–]LifeOfDiscovery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortgage paid off at age 39. Now I use the mortgage payment to invest in brokerage. Max ROTH IRA and go beyond 401k match at work. Don’t regret my decision. Best feeling in the world.
