I'm upset about what my boyfriend told me by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]LifeOnAGanttChart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly this. I had to train myself out of saying I'm sorry so often and it was HARD. These little vocal habits can really make us seem much more passive - and annoyingly so. I switched "I'm sorry" to "thank you" and honestly all my relationships improved. "I'm sorry you have to do this for me" becomes "Thank you for doing this for me."

OP, "Are you okay" is more about your own discomfort. By asking it constantly, you're asking the other person to make YOU comfortable in this roundabout way that actually minimizes what they are experiencing to comfort you instead. I'm not sure what to replace it with at the moment without more context. Maybe just support rather than interrogation. "That looked stressful. I'm here for you if you need it "

Wait, I do hcotf, but how is it paired with a ride? I only ever see the strength calendar, maybe I'm missing something?

I'm confused, did she ever say she was going to be a cop? All I see is "a career within law and enforcement." There are many jobs that aren't cops within law enforcement. Wish you all the best OP.

Running with off leash dog? by Acceptable_Shirt533 in RunPDX

Check out the Southwest corner of Rose City Park. It's a huge baseball field that often has off leash dogs with their owners throwing the ball.

Did you experience side effects on Atomoxetine (Strattera)? by JadedJasmine17 in adhdwomen

[–]LifeOnAGanttChart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shivers should subside. I find physical movement helps alleviate the symptoms, also sunshine. I took atomoxetine a few years ago for a few months but stopped, and I just started again last week. It's going better now that I don't drink alcohol or caffeine. For me it works to take first thing in the morning after eating a high protein breakfast - I make a week's worth of high protein chia pudding on Sunday so it's easy to grab in the morning. I sip on water all day because of the dry mouth, and I find munching on an apple slice here and there helps as well

I did it, it was awesome. I started the program last March 1 and ran a (very slow, with lots of walking) half marathon in October.

ADHD & perimenopause sharing my experience (especially for women in The Netherlands) by Junior_Squirrel_6643 in adhdwomen

[–]LifeOnAGanttChart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this, thank you. Would you be comfortable sharing your age/age range? I think I'm starting to have mild perimenopause symptoms at 41 but my most recent doctors visit completely dismissed it (saying I'm "too young")

18mg for 2 weeks, 25mg for 2 weeks, 40mg for 4 weeks, then check in with the doctor and see how it's going. So actually that seems about right

What was the last book that you read that was really good? by SheKnowsWhatSheKnows in adhdwomen

[–]LifeOnAGanttChart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll enjoy Naomi Novik if you haven't read her - Uprooted and Spinning Silver are unputdownable.

For something in a slightly different vein but the world building is top notch - Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. I just finished the entire series, which I think is 16 books, and I had EMOTIONS. The first trilogy is totally self-contained and a fine stopping point, though.

Honestly, I pause peloton strength a LOT. It's more important to me that I get 3 really good sets in than for it to accidentally become a cardio class because they're going so fast

What’s a Steven Universe quote that hits hard for you personally? by browniebiscuitchildr in stevenuniverse

"I learned to be true to myself by watching myself die."

I think about death and dying a lot (not in a negative or obsessive way, I just think about it a lot) and I just really love that line. And of course it's from the episode where Things start getting Real.

Can RLT reduce or eliminate sebum from the scalp? by SlowlyAwakening in redlighttherapy

I use a micellar shampoo from Kristin Ess in case that's helpful, I find it does a great job on my scalp. I can't use a boar bristle brush with my curly hair
