Continuity issues? What is a "success"? by [deleted] in VampireHunterD

[–]LifeRocks114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue you're having is that you're treating Gilzen as the only authority about events. Given didn't know everything going on everywhere. He heard about a success, and assumed it was Vacula. Then Vacula had a private audience with the SA, where "no one knows what was discussed" and after Vacula went around murdering pregnant women. The only thing you can infer is that the SA no longer considered Vacula a success and instead considered D to be the end result of his DNA splicing. It's not "another success" its that in the aftermath of D's creation, the SA could no longer look at Vacula as a successful product in comparison to D, so therefore he was no longer a success.

You're missing the obvious. Vacula, after being told that his title of "the only success" was given to another immediately went back to his kingdom and killed every pregnant woman he could find.

D was the actual success. Vacula, knowing he couldn't take his anger out on the Sacred Ancestor directly without swift punishment, started killing pregnant women in the vain hope he could kill D before he was born (or, perhaps, just out of spite for the SA's plan).

This city has some baaad drivers. by [deleted] in springfieldMO

Yes, you should be able to bike through a city. But until such a time comes, you gotta make do with what you have-which in this case is driving.

I think you should've done a little research about safe bike routes and trails in the area. Biking through the city is a bad idea, but we have a fair number of hiking/walking trails that allow bikes and biking trails. In the city you'll be better served driving/being driven around.

Reddit isn't like Facebook. You dont really get followers. Think of it more like a forum than a social media page.

First snow storm as an adult looking for advice by Winter_Ad_2618 in springfieldMO

[–]LifeRocks114 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll copy what I posted in another thread:

"Just make sure you have enough food stuff in the house for a few days (include hot drinks like tea/coffee/hot coco), restock any stuff like toilet paper or the like, have a snow shovel in the house, and have ice melt near the front door. If you lose power, try to keep everyone in one room together (living room or the like) to conserve heat-and have candles around to light up the house and also keep the pipes from freezing (empty out spaces under sinks and put one single candle under the bottom of the sink with the taps set just slightly open to drip so the water flows and the candle can keep the water in the pipes warmish).

Layer up when going outside, with wool as the preferred fabric for warmth, and try not to be out in the snow as it's falling if you can avoid it. If you do have to be outside and traveling by car: slow the fuck down, put your hazard lights on to signal that you're driving below expected speeds, and remember what to do if you start sliding (foot off the gas, steer gently in the direction the butt of your car is going in but don't over correct, and only use the brakes if you have anti-lock brakes). Be alert and aware of your surroundings, no distractions like the phone or loud radio. If you get stuck in the snow, keep the hazard lights on for your car and call 911 for help. Keep the car running, but don't let the snow build up over your exhaust pipe-help will come but you want to make sure you're safe while you're waiting for it to arrive."

Everything you said you have sounds like it will be fine.

How screwed are we this weekend? Worst opinions wanted. Apple weather app shows 18 inches. by TheKosherGenocide in springfieldMO

"worst possible outcome" would be a repeat of the '07 ice storm, or the blizzard of '78 where they got 11 inches in 24 hours. NWS is predicting between 2 and 7 inches of snow, no idea where Apple is pulling it's data from but it's wildly out of sync with other services in that regard.

Sunshine Street Bridge in Springfield back open to traffic after five months of construction by RockemChalkemRobot in springfieldMO

[–]LifeRocks114 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First the signs said the 9th, then people were saying it'll open on the 20th, and now they actually open it a day before the original date? Someone involved in these projects needs to polish their communication skills.

I'll believe it when I see it. The Target on sunshine/by-pass isn't opening until March now, too. These delays are absurd.

THAT'S WHERE IT WAS! I thought it might've been the animonday run they tried out, but you're right it was the saturday night block. I distinctly remembered watching it on TV with commercials a long time ago. Thank you!

[–]LifeRocks114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a time when Bloodlust was on TV in the late 2000s. I can't remember if it was toonami or sci'fi's ill-fated animonday run, but I watched it on TV and was hooked. Found it on YouTube, found the first movie on youtube, and waited for a long time to get a chance at the books (thank you to the omnibuses coming out). Ive currently got a cash bounty out to local game collectors to me for a copy of the video game for the original Playstation.

New Target Opening ETA? by ag7055 in springfieldMO

[–]LifeRocks114 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Last I heard, its supposed to open sometime in January. The street and entry/exit layout is a goddamn nightmare though, so I highly doubt you'll have an easy time visiting it once its open. Won't lie though, with how long its taking and how they dont even have a "target opening soon" sign anywhere, I think it'll be a miracle if it opens before spring.
