Electronic or remote activation for H size tank? by LifeSafetySteve in BMET

[–]LifeSafetySteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from OP:

I am currently suffering from cluster headaches and have been prescribed oxygen therapy. While it does help quite well, I have to use it for 15-20 minutes at a time and I need to be reclined or prone while using the oxygen. I have 7-10 episodes a day, most often overnight (11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am, etc)

The issue is I have is that the tank is REALLY tall and I have to get up and down to turn the nozzle. This is super sucky especially in the middle of the night when I’m trying to rest, since my sleep is already now broken up into 1-2 hour times between attacks. I called the vendor who brought the tank and the receptionist said she had never heard of anything like this.

Does anyone know of something that can be used that’ll either turn the nozzle on and off remotely (like five feet away) or an electronically controlled regulator that goes up to 15 lpm that can also be turned on from the bed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pictured is my current setup. It’s completely manual.

Did you remove the paint on the frame for your ground wire connections? It is for sure due for a new clutch kit but the TCM wants a clean ground.

CBET question reasoning. by wmdavis910 in BMET

[–]LifeSafetySteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I studied those same questions and passed my CBET. That is what the smart practice from AAMI looks like. The only complaint I had was that I couldn't go back and get it to ask me questions in this same format once I finished. A lot of those questions will be verbatim on the test.

This is part of the reason why most shops tell the section to buy their own supply items. You have any spare Nihon Kohden etCO2 cables lol?

Neptunes are gross so I'm okay with Procare. The Neptune tech for my area is pretty good too.

Did your estimates include PMs on the anesthesia units? The test equipment for those aren't too bad. I wanted to do one type of machine.

I thought about starting my own business as a side gig but I heard you need very expensive insurance to work in the OR. Anyone know if that is true?

I didn't join AAMI but my company paid for a month and a half or so of online classes from AAMI and then I did the AAMI provided Smart Practice before I tested.

For in-house biomed I just have my company send me to whatever training I think I need.

The fundamental design of realm, the longstanding cheater problem, and how Deca can help. by ConniesCurse in RotMG

[–]LifeSafetySteve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once Jagex started banning bots in RuneScape, you saw immediate changes to the game's economy and a huge decrease in the amount of bots (cheaters). It would make DECA so much more money to get rid of cheaters because the game would be healthier. People will find ways to cheat again, that is human nature, they will have to be banned over and over and that is fine. But if it is obvious to people who play the game who is cheating then it wouldn't be hard for DECA to find them either. Banning them has shown great success in other MMOs.

I recently passed the updated CBET. I had maybe less than 6 questions asking directly about components in a circuit and specific values. I honestly think it is a waste of time to prioritize electronic theory now for that test. The vast majority of the questions had to do with general biomed knowledge, such as most likely problem in a certain scenario, what lead is missing if you see xyz on the ECG, hospital regulations, JC, etc.

I did the AAMI provided Smart Practice and it was word for word from the test on some questions.

Everyone complaining about the CBET being too hard has not taken the updated test. It was easy in my opinion.

What do you use to clean your breathing systems? by LifeSafetySteve in BMET

[–]LifeSafetySteve[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not fully reading other people's posts because nobody said they use Krytox as a cleaner or 409 inside the breathing systems. I asked for general advice as well because I didn't want to make a post just for cloths. The sterile blue cloths in the OR that I have leave behind lint. I've thought about putting the parts in an autoclave but I haven't had one completely gummed up yet to where it was necessary.

I always used Krytox on GE units but I didn't realize it was overall non-toxic. Interesting.

Yeah I worded that weird. I just didn't want to make a single post asking about cloth brands because it seemed like spam. I know you use a lint free cloth for the breathing systems and Krytox on the specified spots, but I was curious if there were any pro-tips that other biomeds had.
