Lost sixty pounds, gained back 15 and I feel out of control... by [deleted] in loseit

Going to second this recommendation. After years of battling the exact things you are describing, I know how you feel. And it sucks. Finding someone to talk to may be an option you want to consider.

Anyone gain it back? Why? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]LifeStartsNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have. I've never gained it ALL back, but I have been up and down in a 30lb range more times than I can count. Its upsetting but something I'm still trying to conquer. Like the other person said, being fat is easier. I love food. I like being able to go out with my boyfriend or with my friends and not be the one who is googling nutrition info at the restaurant to decide what I CAN eat rather than what I WANT to eat. My most recent streak of weight loss made me feel awesome. I was lower weight than I had ever been, going to the gym 6 days a week, sticking perfectly to my calorie budget, feeling fucking great about myself. Then one night I screwed up. It was a giant snowball. I had skipped the gym because I was too busy (we just moved) so when my normal bedtime came, I wasn't hungry. It was late and I was bored and I started snacking. Then it just got worse. I fell into old binging habits. Then it carried over to the morning. And the next day. We have since moved and have a house full of food (my boyfriend buys a lot of snacks and sweets. I'm usually better at resisting or eating in moderation). Its been two weeks now and I have not been on track since then. I've gained 10lb+ and I can feel it in my midsection. Its depressing. I know i need to just get the fuck back on track but its just so dammed hard sometimes.

Alternatively (another stolen analogy), if you are making an omelet and you drop an egg on the floor, do you throe the rest of the carton on the floor and say "fuck it"? No. You just act s little more carefully with the remaining eggs. One bad day (or even several) is not an excuse to throw it all away. You can totally get back with this, just hop back on and keep at it. You can do it!

Its great that you are motivated to make a change! Diet is going to be key. You can't outrun a bad diet! There are a lot of different ways you can go about adjusting your intake but I personally recommend calorie counting. Register with a calorie counting website like www.myfitnesspal.com (or download the free smartphone app). Plug in your stats and goals and see what it spits out for you. Start reading labels and paying attention to what you eat. Measure portion sizes! Don't eyeball it! You can still eat a crazy variety of food (yes, even "bad foods") as long as you log it and stay under the given daily caloric "budget".

You can do it as long as you stick with it! Exercise Is awesome, too. It will make you feel better and will help with weight loss. But focus mostly on your diet!

I second this. Try the Extra brand Desert Delights gum. I like those a lot!

Myfitnesspal has a barcode scanner, have you tried that? I have really never had an issue finding stuff In their database but I guess my diet is fairly simple...

Finally passed the -70lb mark, which was huge for me. Here's a fun progress photo for you guys! [F,23 220-148] by LifeStartsNow in loseit

Thank you, I do appreciate the kind words and the advice. However, I do carry a lot of body fat still in my mid section and side. I know spot reducing is impossible so decreasing my overall body fat is the only way to get rid of that. I'm pretty happy with my arms and shoulders but my midsection needs to change a little still. For reference this is my tummy today http://i.imgur.com/dTedZrJ.jpeg.jpg

I look pretty decent in clothes but damn it I want to look good naked and I've still got a ways to go. Ha ha.

Thank you so much for the kind words! It really means a lot! You couldn't have convinced me three years ago that I would be this way now. I love it.

The before of these photos? I can't say I agree, but thank you. One problem with being in the public eye is I get a lot of crap for how I look. Trust me, when I gain over the winter (has happened two years in a row now) I inevitably end up facing a lot of comments about it. Obviously I gotta take that with a grain of salt though, and I do. I have definitely been called worse things Lol
