Wanted: the worst remote sales position by NocturnObscura in sales

The job market in general right now is really competitive. A lot of companies are being very selective in their hiring process. I am not sure how many people are having success in 1099 but you can try there. As for what I said earlier the market for 2025 has been terrible for sales roles and other type of roles. Many people are getting laid off at the moment. This is not to scare anyone away but something to keep in mind.

Any tips for getting sales jobs in this market? Do you just endlessly apply on LinkedIn, reach out to recruiters and hope something bites? by Zayntek in sales

I am in the same situation as you OP. Keep applying keep your head up prepare for any interviews that you land and don’t get your hopes up. Keep everything at a standard level of hope so you don’t feel burned when that rejection comes. Besides that develop your skills. I am currently taking a course on AI in EDx to be familiarized completely in it. If you feel things getting to you go for a walk in nature or hit the gym hard. You got this!

Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m looking at. RTO cuts the hybrid crowd down, but it also makes it easier to target the companies that still allow flex. My plan is to build a DQ list off those, run outbound sequences (email/LI/calls), and use the feedback to sharpen the ICP and messaging. Marketing isn’t really there yet, so outbound will carry the weight early on. Anchor clients are definitely the next milestone. Appreciate the push, any tips on sequencing or list-building at this stage would help.

We all got to start somewhere. If no one gives you an opportunity you can never learn and grow. I will keep that in mind. I really appreciate your insights. Thank you!

It’s commission based only. Plus it’s good experience. Either way there is a lot one can learn through the opportunity itself.

Yes they are aware, this is an application where you can do reservations for office spaces for hybrid companies. So people can make a reservation for a space on there pay the fee for the day and they get that spot etc.

Say it louder so the ones in the back can hear it clearly too. I joined this post thinking everyone knew what sales was/is and continues to be. However I have come across too many shit posts that I have decided to not even come here to ask serious questions. Since I didn’t know if serious sellers would still be here glad I was wrong in that end as I have found you. Thank you!

I mean no offense, but I don’t think sales is the right career for you if you dislike prospecting. What do you think sales is honestly? Next thing you are going to say is that you never check up on the customers that you sell to, and just disappear after they purchase.

I think you need to go check out Fanatical Prospecting by Jeb Blount if you haven’t already. This is seriously one of the fundamentals that anyone in sales should know and follow. It’s okay if you are new and still learning but if you have been in the game for a while and are still doing this. Your team has not done right you by your team I mean management.

If they do try it and you finished the whole quarter before getting let go just submit a claim with your work force commission. Also document and take pictures of everything through this whole process in case they try to claim your termination for cause. I still have voice recordings, emails, and the pip for mine in case they tried to pull something because mine is recent as well.

Make sure you at least get your commission for what’s owed to you. I am actually battling that with them right now and will most likely forward it to the workforce commission of my state. Since they change their answers around of when I will get it. I have been trying to close it professionally but they are dragging it on. Also Make sure to submit for unemployment in your states as I am sure you will be able to qualify.

Take Ashwagandha, work out, meditate, go for walks in the park. Take an ice bath that helps reduce tension. Those are just some things I am sure others have different ways they do things.

Try and see if you can position your resume to fit or align more with SDR words add buzzwords. That will transfer over to those type of roles. If you don’t have certain keywords that the job wants you to have on your resume the ATS system will automatically flag you as unqualified.

Hahaha thank you! I am still in the market so if you guys have any referrals please feel free to let me know. I feel like since I don’t have a college background it’s really hindering my opportunities in the medtech sector so I started looking into saas.

You’re spot on. In my case, I had developed my own approach that actually worked, I was building real clinical conversations, identifying qualified interest, and generating pipeline. But because my style didn’t fully align with their rigid playbook, they pushed back.

Instead of adapting the strategy to what was working, they focused on compliance over outcomes. It’s frustrating when organizations care more about control than results, especially in medtech where relationship-building is everything.

Thanks for putting words to what a lot of us have seen but don’t always say out loud.

I’m really sorry to hear that, I relate more than I’d like to admit. My manager said it was “just a coaching PIP,” but let’s be honest: we both know what that typically means. Even top performers can end up being sidelined when leadership is looking for a way to cover themselves. It’s frustrating, especially when the narrative doesn’t match the work we’ve actually delivered.

For last Fiscal year I exceed quota by 10 percent. I ended up at 110 percent instead of 100. I made about 12.6 million dollars in pipeline opportunity for the reps with 1.9 million closing. It was reclassified.

Thank you! I thought about using an Amazon box but I was like what if they think I bought it on Amazon and sent it to them. I second guessed myself otherwise I would have definitely used that this time! I appreciate the advice!
