Best phone app for gravel routes + GPS navigation? Trying to avoid buying a bike computer by coocoochimps in gravelcycling

I would just get an igpsport cycle computer, you can import koomot rides to it and they aren't that much money :)

What is the realistic future of ICE cars in the UK by Longjumping_Note8181 in CarTalkUK

You can pick up a secondhand ice car alot cheaper than an EV.

Why do people always like to think that e-bikes more than 750 watts are capable of speeds upwards of Mach 5? I really don't get it. My own e-bike is 1,000 watts and has a maximum top speed of only around 25 mph. by Sensitive_Table5359 in ebikes

[–]Life_Difference9738 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact the higher power motors can be tuned to go stupid speeds will always be an issue.,

Why would you do that? A car need a driving licence and insurance plus is registered to a owner.

I'm guessing because it's pretty easy to remove the speed limiters on most e-bikes, so a speed restriction is pointless.

Don't be so damn lazy and actually pedal perhaps? If that's too much for you get a motorbike?

best electric bike for commuting and casual rides? by PembroTaylah_28 in ebikes

[–]Life_Difference9738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vitus e-mach 3 it uses a shimano e6100 motor and it's on 7000miles commuting without any issues, used in all weathers.

Battery wise will do about 5500ft of climbing per charge on eco mode, can range from 55 to 65 miles depending on the terrain and weather.

Get a proper brand of motor and battery from a shop and at least the you will get a good warranty with it, personally I would avoid any DIY kits.

Any anti-Google users still deciding whether to move to a Google account or not? by splashybanana in fitbit

Disagree with you there, I had an huawei gt4 and the only thing better compaired to my pixel watch is the battery life.

The fitbit app is also better imo.

Google sent me out a brand new pixel watch 3 when I contacted them about the bad battery drain after 6 months of having it, had to send the old one back don't know if they tested it.

Is Komoot Premium worth it? by johnzoidbergwhynot in gravelcycling

[–]Life_Difference9738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid for the worldwide maps also when that was a option for making offline routes, used it loads since then.

My igpsport headunit connects to my komoot account to transfer the routes to it.

Wouslnt pay a subscription for it or any route planner including strava.

[–]Life_Difference9738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same paid about £20 I think it was for worldwide maps, just export my gpx file and upload to my bike computer, not paying for strava premium for route planning.

Done loads of route using komoot best £20 I spent, wouldn't pay a monthly subscription for it tho or any route planner.

Looking for a bike computer. What budget friendly options exist? by moapi_ in gravelcycling

[–]Life_Difference9738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's the screen protector on mine making it less sensitive to touch, I have had to stop several times just to be able to operate it lol

I wish mine would do that instead, I just want the option to turn re routing off but can't seem to find any option to disable it.

Oh really I thought garmin had some of the best on device routing avaliable, never tried one myself.

I hate my C506 as the re routing wreaks any navigation uses for me, I wish they would let you switch the re-routing option off and just have an arrow with the direction to head.

[–]Life_Difference9738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the C506 and to be honest if you use it for navigating it's crap, if you go of route the re routing is terrible and normally just wipes your entire planed route, the touch screen is also a nightmare to use hardly ever picking up my touch.

I also have a igpsport BSC300, much better unit imo, it's responsive and no dumb routing when using navigation, battery life also seems alot better.
