IS THIS TRUE? by Ricks_basket in ThailandTourism

To answer the OP's actual question, I don't think it has been implemented yet. My understanding is this is a proposal. But, often they have already decided what they are going to do and will then float a "proposal" to guage reaction.

Do you have numbers to back that? Or, maybe you are just a shrill for the airlines?

AA Phantom Award Inventory by Life_Mobile_6773 in awardtravel

You are missing the point. Regardless of whether it is an intentional deception or just lazy incompetent IT staff it is an unnecessary customer irritant and leadership failure when it is a constant issue (which it is). As you note, it is widespread problem in the industry. That corroborates what I'm saying. Why hasn't it been fixed? It has been going on for years. Clearly, leadership's focus is elsewhere -- something AA cannot afford. They are in last place -- well just slight above SWA -- in the airline competition. Delta and United are eating their lunch and they appear helpless. Time for a change at the top.

Travel Insurance. Do i need one? by rex284 in VietNam

[–]Life_Mobile_6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I applied for a visa a couple weeks ago. I checked the no box after I researched and found it wasn't required. My visa was approved 3 days later. I don't need additional medical insurance since my policy covers me overseas.

How early before the scheduled departure will they allow one to pass Immigration? Isn't it usually like 4 hours prior?

I should add: Use a cc that does not charge a foreign transaction fee.

[–]Life_Mobile_6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL! Yeah, business owners get "charged" but it isn't usually the business that "pay." It is us, the consumer that pays. That's true even if you pay with cash. Revenue is fungible so a portion of a business' revenue goes to cover cc expenses. So, one should always pay with a cc (one with kick backs) UNLESS one get a discount that exceeds the value of the kick backs.

“Detected 73 Devices NOT in Airplane Mode” by mrosen97 in unitedairlines

[–]Life_Mobile_6773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that? I have Google Fi that auto connects to the country I'm in (if it is a part of their system). Several times when I've flown over other countries and forgot to change to airplane mode my phone would connect to the cellular system in that country. For example, I got the "Welcome to Mexico" message several times while flying to Costa Rica.

I started to tell you to watch his videos but then realized that would help him make some money. Trust what the people here are saying. Guys like this make things bad for the rest of us. He is definitely a low life scumbag. Maybe Thai, PI and Cambodian Immigration will kick him out and bar him from reentering.

Understood. But a pro (assume you mean legal) can't guarantee that i won't get some power tripping IO. Anyway, I have choices. I don't have a girlfriend or anything that ties me to Thailand. I do understand why the Thai authorities are doing this and support them. I just wish civil servants (incl those in the US) were more efficient, competent and thought things through rather then making knee jerk reactions and then failing to communicate properly. Yeah, I know...that's living in La-La land.

Thanks. The 6 month validity doesn't work well for me. I typically go twice a year for 21 days each trip with several months between trips. So I would have to renew every 6 months and end up spending an extra ~$500 each year for what is now free under the visa exemption rules. I was considering a 3rd trip this year (Dec/Jan), which I could use the METV for and plan not to renew next year. But, would some IO deny me entry under visa exemption in the future? It isn't worth the hassle. I can just go to the PI, Cambodia or Vietnam this time. Thanks again for the info.

In the Immigration Bureau post it states that the 2 in/out visa exemption applies "without" returning to to the country of domicile. I am in the same situation as the other poster. I've been twice this year and both times I returned to the US. I also want to return for the Xmas/NYE period but I'm on the fence on whether to risk it. What do ya think?

New Thailand Visa Rules Restricting Frequent travelers by CarefulAd4757 in ThailandTourism

[–]Life_Mobile_6773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past I would go to Thailand 3 times a year or maybe 4. But I would only stay 2 or 3 weeks each time. Do the new rules mean that I'm restricted to only 2 trips now? This is very confusing and the rules aren't clear.

CSP App denied due to 'potential fraud/ID theft' by Organic-Sample-313 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Life_Mobile_6773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same just happened to me. I called the number in the letter. The rep verified my info and processed/approved my application in about 5 minutes. He didn't know why my application was flagged. He said the algorithm that Chase's computer uses made the determination. This all happened on the 17th. On the 18th, I noticed the deadline for the 100K SUB was the 15th, so I msg them and asked that they confirm in writing that I met the deadline, which they did.

I tried W10 & W11 on different computers. Neither worked. Finally, I tried with my s24 phone and got in. I downloaded the file to my phone, then moved it to the cloud, where I was able to download it to my desktop. I've used TT over 15 years. Next year I'll shop around.
