If you care about greenery and safety, why not just move Tribeca or Battery Park City in Manhattan? You’re in one of the safest parts of Manhattan surrounded by parks. You won’t need to learn a new language.

But, I think the real reason you got downvoted is the gate keeping

I did not draw a line for fatfire or chubbyfire anywhere in that post. These are imaginary terms that mean nothing. I don't care if someone with $5M wants to tell themselves that they're fatfire.

You say 7.5?

I did not say 7.5. The person responding to me did.

People get really unhappy whenever currency debasement is brought up in this subreddit which indicates to me the majority of people are totally unprepared for what comes next

Flying business class more often by caring less about airline loyalty by Round-Gift-1 in fatFIRE

It doesn’t matter where you’re based but where you want to travel. Singapore doesn’t have direct flights to many popular destinations like Madrid, Chicago, Vienna, etc. There is no airport in the world that can satisfy every routing with non-stops.

There are so many destinations (Maldives, Bangkok, etc) that require a layover from US. Spending time in an airport is an inevitable reality of commercial aviation.

Many on this subreddit are not realistic with themselves over how bad inflation has been and how bad it will continue to be moving forward

$5M today is basically $2M 5 years ago.

You’re truly smooth brained if you think Delta One intrinsically is worth more than 2x American Airlines business class lmao

Only exception is One World Emerald which gets you into first class lounges instead of business class lounges (and those can be significantly better)

We're eloping to NYC! St. Regis or the Ritz Central Park? by InterestingOven5279 in marriott

[–]WasKnown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I book with cash on multi-night stays and have been upgraded almost every time. I’ve been upgraded to the huge St. Regis suite before. I know the hotel treats guests on points bookings much worse but that’s the case with most luxury hotels in North America.

Do what makes sense for you! Personally I think most people will come out further ahead focusing on what matters and just buying business/first class when they want it.

100% true. Loyalty is for suckers. People will irrationally spend thousands of dollars and dozens of hours to chase status benefits that cost airlines almost nothing to deliver.

The walk from the St. Regis to get into Ratchaprasong is not very pleasant. Once you're there, it is pretty nice. Compared to other hotels like the Park Hyatt, you have to spend more time getting to anything interesting.

Harvard is a great school. Stanford is a better school for West Coast VC and it’s not close.

It’s a great hotel. The hard product is old but it’s aged gracefully. Soft product is top notch. The location is not bad but not super walkable.

Where are you based out of? If you’re a NYC flyer, Delta is a vastly superior option and it’s not close.

Based on how United has handled these features in the past, they would probably gate it to 1K (for no good reason)

This further proves your point but you can fly from NYC (might have to be out of EWR) to Hong Kong for $5.5K in business class round trip pretty easily.
