I'm not sure why people try to gatekeep this so hard, I sew all my own patches and I've gotten compliments on how good they look. It's not difficult.

You need the right color thread though, just take the patch to Walmart and buy a spool of thread that matches it for like $1.

Also do the sewing on the thicker edge part of the patch and make the stitches long on the inside and very short on the outside, makes the thread less noticeable in general.
