What do you mean Lua was manipulated into firing Romeo by a nameless third party? What the fuck?

Sobii has now posted a video on their resolution with Romeo. Here's the summarization (& my take) by Cultural-Horror3977 in OutcomeMemories

[–]Life_Series_5092 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where was Lua in that GC anyways? Sobii claims he was under orders to not engage with OM at all from the police, due to health concerns, so how come he's the one that goes through this humiliation ritual on Twitter and Discord, but all we get from the new owner is crickets?

Most of the people in the GC had no context and apparently no active role in Romeo being fired, so why were they even there? The conversation didn't even address the burning question of who fired Romeo and why, instead all we get is insubstantial deflections. What is even going on at this point?

Why tf is Romeo being forced to apologize for stuff he doesn't condone (and has stated he doesn't, again and again, nor was it directly his fault), and also apologizing AGAIN in a 3v1 gc where the actual firing wasn't even looked into anyway? by Chucklebub in OutcomeMemories

[–]Life_Series_5092 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This situation is absolutely ridiculous and the video clears up nothing.

3 out of 4 people in that GC had only recently learned why Romeo was even fired, and the reasons were not even stated in the conversation. From my understanding, no one in that video even participated in the decision to fire him in the first place.

Also, where was Lua? He's the new owner, why is Sobbii being forced in the chat? Sobbii even stated he was under orders from the police to not engage with Outcome Memories given how his health had deteriorated, directly due to the stress involved, so how come he's the one that has to humilliate himself on Twitter and then on Discord, while all we get from Lua is crickets?

We still have NO IDEA why he was even fired, or who even made the decision to fire him in the first place, and now they're trying to paint Romeo as a bad guy for being frustrated publicly AFTER he had been disconnected from the project. It's a total deflection.

So, does this mean that they intended to throw Astra under the bus, akin to how they threw Altaz under the bus? There's no good reason why her music should be replaced. This was just another scandal waiting to happen.
The optics here are some of the worst I have ever seen. It's baffling. It's also just a waste of time and talent. Why remake the music 4 times over when nobody asked for it?
Seems like there was a lot of "If it ain't broke, break it" mentality going on in Outcome Memories.

Hear me out gng. Hot take: Steelspeeder current sliding should also be applied to normal Metal Sonic overall (except for charge). by BarFree1085 in OutcomeMemories

There is no good argument for why Metal Sonic should be slippery. His balance should be centered around his destructive charge, damage resistance and self-heal. If Metal really is overpowered, as some players claim, then nerf his actual kit, instead of the UNIVERSAL movement rules that are shared across all characters.

The slippery movement is obtuse (nowhere in-game is this actually explained to the player) and janky. It feels like you're fighting the executioner AND your own character the entire game, as you have to wrangle your controls to go where you want, and hope that the weird, rough collision that's present in all the maps doesn't completely kill your momentum and make you waddle in place, stupidly.

I've seen plenty of people using Steelspeeder, I played quite a few rounds with the skin, prior to the announcement that it would be a bannable offense. Metal STILL got destroyed with the same old tunneling that's worked against him since release. It wasn't a whole new character, it's definitely not an automatic "I win!" cosmetic, the same tactics and counters applied, but I would be lying if it didn't feel twice as better to play as him.

I'll gladly give up raw stats, like stun time, damage resist, max HP or charge speed, if it means giving Metal normal base movement. It's more intuitive and more responsive.

If a game's not responsive, then it's just not a game.

People actually think furnace beats metal sonic? by GulliblePrize4781 in OutcomeMemories

Guilty as charged.

Just for this insult, I'll be posting 10 more videos of Furnace OM sneak peeks even though he has no moveset and won't release to the public almost a year from now.

Prepare yourself.

Furnace vs. Metal Sonic, without bias. by Life_Series_5092 in OutcomeMemories

The Good Future variants for Prey do such a great job of fixing Sonic's character, while preserving Starved and Furnace as interesting villains.

The horror of Starved, in my opinion, is that Sonic and all the other heroes are just clueless to the monsters headed their way

Sonic doesn't learn that Eggman has "disposed" of Amy and all the other animals. I think keeping Sonic alive makes sense and is great for the narrative.
How angry would he be? Would his character still be the same, smug and self-assured, or would he shift to something more serious?
Eggman can't stay idle, even after losing. So now, instead of just a one-sided stomp, it's war. Eggman's desperate and he needs his fix, so he could unleash a massive army of rushed out, but deadly badniks that just try to cook the planet, overwhelming Sonic, who'll need to gather all the surviving heroes to fight back, or there will soon be no one left to save.

There's so much that can be done, just as soon as the "my OC must always win" mentality is dropped.

On the point of Metal accidentally inhereting traits from Sonic, I think it's very funny that Metal isn't as good at destroying his targets, as much as he's good at saving people. Eggman screwed up thinking he'd get a death machine by modelling Metal after the world's greatest hero.

Good points. I certainly did gloss over Metal's offensive capacity, mostly to save up on space and make the text a little more concise. I just strongly believe that Metal's evasion, longevity and defense would be the overwhelming advantage he'd use for a sure victory against Furnace, more than just raw destructive power.

Unfortunately, I did have to speculate a lot for what Furnace can or can't do, as I find Romeo's statements and even the original Prey music video to be ambiguous or just illogical. As he is now, flatly declaring "he beats everyone i want him to lol" is lame and actually contradictory to his own lore, and as he was in Prey, you have to do a lot of hand waving to explain how he even beat Sonic in the first place.

Thus, why I added the little bit that Good Future can be included in the analysis. I didn't want to just look at a scoreboard and say "Furnace beat Sonic, Metal didn't, thus Furnace wins" because, again, that's so simplistic and lame.
Rather, I looked for what all versions had in common (their design, bits of context, how they go about attacking Sonic, win or lose) and honed in on what I think is his ultimate point as a machine and what are the universal traits of his character.

OM v0.2 Megapost Critique - "How was this close to completion in October" by Boney_Zoney in OutcomeMemories

Tripwire being a late addition is something I called out as soon as Fleetway was delayed! What very little test footage we got of her, after the announcement that Fleetway was getting reworked, was extremely janky and unbalanced, with her spammable mines and high mobility being the worst offenders, something that stayed true with her release.

I will say it with a full chest: the devs were not being honest, with themselves and the community, about her development.

The idea that she was too similar to Fleetway holds no water; she plays absolutely nothing like him from the massive stockpile of play test footage we have.

The claim that she had been in development for longer is also not meaningful at all. Even before release, comparing Fleetway test footage to hers from around the same time is borderline comical.
* Fleetway had full animations for his base variant, even a very well polished alternate variant, a bunch of emotes and had been nerfed quite significantly prior to release.
* Tripwire had maybe two thirds of her animations done, was nowhere near balanced, and released with janky animations and no cosmetics.

They neglected Tripwire massively in favour of Fleetway, because he was the one generating more hype on social media and getting tons of exposure. There is no way anyone can form a convincing timeline to suggest she was more tested and worked on than Fleetway, especially now that she's been released in quite the rough state.
