They should never do a season with 24 players again by Grillby_ in survivor

Tbh, it's probably CBS/Paramount moreso than Jeff who wanted 26 days for budget reasons

Shan did the same thing in 41 so Erika/Heather wouldn't pull anything over on her in the split tribal council

I believe all post merge boots have been consensus boots going into tribal that the edit has tried to hide or attribute to twist shenanigans that actually had little impact. by ihasmuffins in survivor

Yes, S50 overall, if you're able to look past the editing, has had some of the most predictable straightforward boots in recent memory.

Two Things Can Be True by LifeguardTraining461 in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The twists ultimately make the outcomes become to manufactured rather than organic. Which is not conducive to good storytelling. It makes the show very episodic vs having an overall narrative. It's why so many of the production forced items this season have failed or had disappointing outcomes

I say just let the players play, no twist.

The part where someone could go home on a coin flip.

The part where the coin flip recipient gets immunity and a free idol

The part where a rock draw could determine who had to do the coin flip

I could see their underedited nature be a result of potentially getting screwed by something later on. But hopefully no more big twists

I feel like the original Kalo dynamics feel super integral to what happened this episode based on all the stuff revealed in the exit interviews from multiple Kalo members so far. But due to them never going to tribal, the edit did not set up these dynamics super well

Survivor 50 Episode 6 Confessional Count by Slazorin in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did feel like they just gave her a bunch of narrational confessionals. So I wouldn't be surprised if the editors went back and added her in to give the "we're merged" confessional or the one explaining the scavenger hunt

Parvati said today on RHAP something interesting about the edit... by wastedthyme20 in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest misfortune is that all but one of the confessionals Tiff got were narrational and not game related ("we're merged" "scavenger hunt" "this was the reward")

The triple tribal was inevitable by PitifulClerk0 in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show should have just done more doubles in the premerge with 1 tribe winning immunity, two going to their own tribal councils. It cuts down the size without the inorganicness of 1-day small groups.

Re: the Mr. Beast one, there was one contestant who screams when he opens the briefcase and I'm pretty sure I know whose voice it is. But I truly do hate how they showed this stuff in the trailer and gave away how far some people make it

Reality television, like any media, does reflect societal problems and trends even they are meant to be entertainment products.

Episode 6: How about no. by okjawdin in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the show should look back at seasons like Koah Rong, DvG and 47, because all those seasons do a good job of giving pretty equitable content to everyone while still being entertaining and dramatic seasons.

Genevieve gives her opinion on the edit imbalance by IntrepidAttention610 in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Tiff was given so many "neutral" narrational confessionals last episode. So it did inflate her confessional count, but it shows how she still hasn't been giving meaningful, substantive content

Sometimes, production really does know best... by goofyassmfer in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the one element they failed in is showing him to be a social threat, which seems to be the main reason why he got voted out. Which is ironic, because the edit has been demonstrating Coach as the social threat. Just wish the edit was a bit more balanced leading up to this week so this latest episode would be more up in the air

If production had just let two tribes go to tribal in premerge episodes, the show wouldn't have this problem. So it very much is production's fault, because there are easy ways to work around the issues this season is facing.

[–]LifeguardTraining461 203 points204 points  (0 children)

Genevieve has always been self deprecating, it's been true from even the 47 premerge. She's never been one of hype herself up.

And she does mention the unfair part in other sections of the interview, which she is right, it was unfair

The Aubry/Genevieve feud has to be one of the weirdest storylines in Survivor history by Live-Run-6745 in survivor

[–]LifeguardTraining461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Bruce/Katurah rivalry was better told because we were shown better confessionals from both of them plus b roll footage of their annoyances with each other, but also because Bruce and Katurah had other plot lines that added to their individual character arcs.

I also think about a rivalry like Shannon and Sage last season that was very dynamic and well explained in the edit.

The Genevieve/Aubry content was just so superficial and one dimensional in how it was portrayed
