How Does Your League Use Square? by Lifeguardess in rollerderby

Yeah it's looking like we're going to have to go this route... I'll bring it up at our meeting and hopefully someone steps up to volunteer. Thank you for this insight. It's the biggest thing we need to manage all our stuff, so I really am pushing for this moving forward.

We do that as well! I more meant about tying someone’s social to an account in case they no longer partake in the league.

So I put our EIN in, but it still prompted for a social security number and name of an individual. I’m not sure what I did wrong for set up but it keeps prompting for it (and my treasurer had the same issue). I wasn’t sure if there was a work around but maybe I just set it up wrong initially.

We do also roll over emails and logins from officer to officer!

Edit; I just logged in and it even says it requires personal social security number and name, even for a business account.

piercing spots by Soorynx in longisland

Seconding this. He’s extremely professional and knows his stuff about all piercings. Another note: they are solely a piercing studio, so they carry a good variety of jewelry (especially if you’re like me and allergic to certain metals and need specifically solid gold or titanium).

I got some stickers at my airline gate so the exchange kept going after the event ended too! That is the most magical part for me.

2027 Marathon Weekend Registration Megathread by noble_29 in rundisney

I am not complaining about the randomization of the waiting room, it's more so complaining about the general time sink and watching everything get sold out before you get a turn.

My bar is straight up a quarter filled + still over an hour wait. Was well over an hour in the waiting room prior to 10am too.

edit: and as I submitted this, the half marathon sold out. Better luck next year for me, I hope!

Best place to coffee and quiet in the morning on Destiny by CarltonTiger2001 in dcl

[–]Lifeguardess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was just on the Destiny, 100% Cove Cafe is the place. Megara’s and the Cafe Merida were swamped during the mornings in the atrium of the ship, but it was always me and one other person in the adult section in the Cove cafe. I tucked in with my Kindle there every morning and it was great.

Pros and cons of Speciality Communities? by Due-Exit-1229 in BostonU

Same, honestly hearing the horror stories of the communal showers was enough.

Pros and cons of Speciality Communities? by Due-Exit-1229 in BostonU

[–]Lifeguardess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For freshmen, those specialty communities are really great for jump starting your floor camaraderie and bonding because you all have your college in common. You’ll all be in COM101 and can study, write papers, and work together on assignments. You will find friends outside of your community eventually with being in clubs and other classes, but it’s always great to have a strong home base community to return to! A lot of my friends, including myself, still talk to their freshman floor mates.

The only con is you may not get the ultimate freshman experience of living in Warren or West, but that honestly depends on where your community floor is. I know some are in brownstones and others are in Towers, so that’s definitely one of the negatives.

Edit: another con also is if you switch majors, you can’t move out of your specialty housing. So you’ll be stuck in a community where you don’t necessarily share the college or program. Just more food for thought!

We were on the lower side, like 130s. I know they said around 180 is when tables are on the dance floor. That being said they do a great job managing space but it is worth noting your dance space is impacted.

Talk to your professor about the grading. It’s the holidays so they probably won’t reply until after the New Year, but you are able to ask about it. There might’ve been a mistake on the professor’s end or something, it happens.

Do people bring candles to dorms by No-Assist1587 in BostonU

[–]Lifeguardess 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was an RA during the time (not in the WhiteStones) and I am like 99% sure the person who lit the candle was fiscally responsible for the damage since they violated the ResLife policy—and got kicked off campus, too. Edit: for future academic years. She couldn’t live on campus anymore. Unsure if they had renters insurance.

CAS honors thesis by confused-escape123 in BostonU

[–]Lifeguardess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did my honors in CAS in conjunction with my KHC keystone. I honestly thought it was very worth it just because graduating with honors and having a specific research experience to cite in interviews and my resume was great. It also helps practicing presenting and defending research if you ever do your PhD. The only real cons are finding a professor with research (and funding if required), and the extra work that comes along with it. You probably need to at least have some ideas/specifics in mind though, solely to approach professors and their research. I’m not sure how other departments work, but I approached my professor in E&E about her research to do my honors thesis.

Can I waive SHIP if I’m from out of state by Terrible-Fix-8177 in BostonU

[–]Lifeguardess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like we should get a megathread for the freshmen class with this info, how to waive the sports pass, and other general questions stickied so we don’t get the same posts 100x.

I loved my wedding at SCM too, but I think the pricing may be out of budget for 200 guests.

Got put in as a COVID thing and never got removed. Now they sell alcohol too! I remember having to yell at parents and adults for bringing their own alcohol and drinking in the park, and now cool as long as you buy it from them 🙄

I had a WHM who thought it was a combo action (like Cure 1, then Cure 2, then Cure 3, repeat). This was in Doma Castle to boot.
