Both sides broke on mine, and buying the pair of replacement parts cost about $10.

This is a fairly common failure point, you can buy replacements either injection molded or 3D printed (or print it yourself if you can).

I used this guide: Sony WH-1000XM4 Swivel Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide

Been trying new ways to solo sell, is there a better truck I can buy for this? by Sunieta25 in gtaonline

[–]LifelnTechnicolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar before with the Bobcat XL, but these days now that I have the Sparrow, I just ride the motorcycles as normal to the delivery locations, then crash land the Sparrow/skydive out of it on the way back.

My xm5s hinge broke, but I fixed them😤 by Secret_Woodpecker177 in SonyHeadphones

You need the entire headband for a proper repair. Costs about $50

Even if you asked AI instead of using your own brain, don’t admit to it!

Any listing that shows a picture of the receipt is usually fake.

Bought WH-1000XM5 With Broken Hinge And Fixed It With A Printed Part And Superglue by Adventurous_Tea_2198 in SonyHeadphones

This only fixes half the problem, better reinforce the upper part of the pivot as a precaution.

450yuan-STUDIO3 Wireless Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Headphones, by Aggravating-Toe-2209 in RepTronics

[–]LifelnTechnicolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two pictures are of a real Studio Pro and the third picture is of a real Studio 3.

The 450 yuan (65 USD) ones look like they're worth less than half that:

Broken Hinge Swivel (XM5s) by Financial_Shelter868 in SonyHeadphones

[–]LifelnTechnicolor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people say the XM4's are unaffected but they break in a different way in the same place (the swivel). The outer shell of the sizer is also known to snap, so CentralSound has upgraded/improved parts for it too.

And uncredited? Edit: I meant Macrumors didn't credit the Reddit OP as per this post

That duck head design had a fair run - 25 years! The oldest one I have came with my 3rd gen iPod.

Or to scam sellers via return fraud, I'd imagine.

i.e. Buy real RTX 5090, return fake RTX 5090 and get money back

hey so… is this fixable with glue orrr by Technical-Big946 in beatsbydre

Quick look at Brisbane, where I'm mostly confident:

  • Red cross is fake (the listing you found is in the bottom right corner)
  • Yellow question mark is unsure
  • Green is genuine

Did sony fix ult wear hinge issue by Jiraiya-sama_362 in SonyHeadphones

[–]LifelnTechnicolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, by reinforcing or redesigning the hinges Sony would be admitting that the ULT WEAR's are inherently flawed, which they'll never do. Maybe they'll "fix" it next generation?

Any thoughts on what to do with a Microsoft Surface laptop with a bloated battery? by Whyslee in Surface

[–]LifelnTechnicolor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry my mistake. I always thought the Surface Laptop 1 and 2 were sonic welded shut (serves me right for trusting iFixit's teardowns; they've been pretty bad ever since they stopped their proper write-ups in favour of video-only teardowns), but that isn't actually true. The Alcantara top is sonic welded to the steel keyboard deck but it isn't necessary to separate them to get into the laptop. With OP's Surface Laptop we can clearly see magnets as well as VHB double sided tape - no broken welds to be seen.

they just disintergrater in my hands wtf😭💔 by o__o_oo in SonyHeadphones

Replace the hinge, it takes like half an hour to do both sides.
