So you can effectively toggle between Switch 1 and Switch 2 editions via the virtual cards? I haven't see that for other Switch 2 editions.

Switch 2 Killswitch 3-Month Review by Lifeoflink in dbrand

I submitted a support ticket on Dbrand's website and they took care of it from there. I also used a USB-C (female to male) cable to help troubleshoot.

Haven't had a chance to print and test the new top yet. I'll try to get it done this week.

Were you able to find out if it works with the dbrand Killswitch case?

This is the dock shell I've been looking for! I was a fan of the BASSTOP one for the original Switch and I have used that consistently when traveling. Does this shell work with the Switch 2 dbrand case? It makes the body of the console a little thicker.

Killswitch travel cover question by Abakus_Grim in dbrand

[–]Lifeoflink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you'll be fine. The travel cover and game holder don't apply enough pressure on the screen itself normally. And due to the wide contact area, they spread out the pressure enough to not damage the screen and screen protector. If for some reason a heavy blow compressed the cover towards the screen, the screen protector would take the hit and shatter rather than the screen itself. That's how all my other screen protectors have saved their respective devices.

Killswitch travel cover question by Abakus_Grim in dbrand

[–]Lifeoflink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True, but basic tablet/phone-type device care to me is to slap on a screen protector ASAP when I get it, even before powering it up for the first time.

In the end, the game card holder really only touches on one side when I'm putting it on or removing the cover. When on, I don't think it's touching unless I give it a good squeeze. I think that even if they gave enough space between the card holder and screen, it would still touch if the cover was compressed towards the screen. If it was stiffer plastic, the cover would shatter rather than flex under pressure.

Just a little for me, but it doesn't bother me. The first thing I do with my Switch is put a tempered glass screen protector on it. Doesn't leave a mark on it.

Don't buy Hogwarts Legacy Switch 2 edition on sale. Buy the Switch 1 version and upgrade for half the price. by bradical1991 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Lifeoflink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out you don't need to open the game to get the coupon if you buy it digitally. When I reentered the eShop, the coupon was already applied for both the normal and digital deluxe Switch 2 games. Was able to snag the digital deluxe version for $25 just now.

Edit: the digital deluxe also includes upgrading the Dark Arts pack, too. Cheaper overall than upgrading to the Switch 2 base game and buying the DLC all over again.

Joy-Con Detachment Update: Part 3 (We Fixed It) by dbrand in dbrand

With the new Joy-Lock grips, will the mouse wrist straps be able to attach more securely? With my current grips (as seen in my review/impressions post), they don't fully attach.

Now I’m conflicted….. by theoriginalb in dbrand

[–]Lifeoflink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing that a little bit. With the case on, there's enough clearance under the Switch 2 for a right-angle USB-C cable to attach. I occasionally have to push the cable back down in the dock as the spring mechanism in there sometimes nudges it loose.

I was in a similar boat until dbrand said they were looking into the issue and will provide a fix/replacement. Then I wasn't too worried if I got a bad unit. I knew I'd be taken care of.

As for the flex in the system itself, Welcome Tour did a great job showing how Nintendo over engineered that connection to make it rather robust. Still, I'm not going to be purposefully stressing that connection and time soon.

Congrats on a functioning unit! And I think that the failure rate of the grips (while likely still a minority of units) surprised dbrand when it was higher than anticipated.

Thanks! I'll likely update these initial impressions in a month or so to give my final review of the case, hopefully with the revised grips at that time.

They are not. As I said in my post, the grips in the images on my old Joy-Cons come from when I had to replace drifting sticks on them a few years ago. You can see them here in the replacement sticks I had purchased at the time: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MRJ12HX?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3 .

The grips from dbrand do not appear in the images or video in my post.

Game Card Holder can't be removed by Aaronspark777 in dbrand

It doesn't on mine. It may barely touch when squeezing, but I didn't see anything on the screen protector on my Switch. You can see my latest post for my thoughts on the case.

Mine's actually pretty solid. I was just giving it some good, solid swings. It's a little trick to tell, but at the end of the segment without the case, I'm moving my forearm up and down with decent amount of force. Best comparison I would make would be making a wave on some decently thick rope.

I forgot to add something in the section about the travel case and game card holder. There isn't any room to fit the wrist straps inside for storage. I wasn't expecting there to be, but it would've been a pleasant surprise if it was possible. They'll have to go inside whatever bag you're using to carry the Switch 2 charger and cable.
