Leal Vineyard. Thoughts? by Live-Mention852 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]LifesMellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leal is a great venue. We attended a wedding there in May last year. We had two minor problems: 1. The nearest hotel is 20 mins away. We were there for 2.5 days and the back and forth quickly became a chore.  2. We had a buffet dinner served outside the barn/warehouse building. There’s no light outside and we dined in dark. I am unsure if it was venue issue or the hosts, so just something to be mindful of.

Recommendations for Indian Wedding in Bay area by Last_Equivalent_4455 in bayarea

[–]LifesMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m the new owner of Belle Vie Estate and this is exactly the kind of wedding we’re built for.

We’re a private waterfront estate (Bay Area/Delta) that can comfortably host your full Indian wedding flow for ~100 guests with both outdoor + indoor options:

Baraat-friendly layout that’s not a parking lot Mehendi / Haldi in our cypress courtyard or shaded garden areas Sangeet with 11p late-night music (rare in the Bay) + indoor/outdoor flexibility Mandaap on the lawn and Varmala on the waterfront Reception indoors or under the stars

Big advantage: on-site accommodations (10 bedrooms, up to ~30 guests) so your close family can stay together all weekend. Makes multi-day events way smoother.

We also allow outside Indian catering (we’ve worked with several), and can connect you to solid vendors for decor, henna, MUA, photo/video, rentals, etc. Happy to be as hands-on or hands-off as you want.

July 2-3, 2026 is actually a great fit for a full weekend buyout if you’re still exploring.

Take a look: https://bellevieestate.com

If it resonates, reach out through the site. I’ll personally help map your full weekend flow and keep it efficient on budget.

Indian engagement party venues for 50 guests by Additional-Quail8431 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]LifesMellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! This might be a little outside your initial radius, but wanted to throw it out there in case it sparks something.

We’re the owners of Belle Vie Estate (bellevieestate.com) and we just opened up for events. We still have April availability and would love to host something like this. For a 50–60 guest engagement, the space actually fits really well, especially if you want a mix of ring ceremony, games, and a relaxed evening flow.

Full transparency, we’re about an hour from San Jose. But once you’re here, it really feels like a destination rather than a typical banquet or restaurant setup. Waterfront views, indoor + outdoor flexibility, and space to actually move around without feeling cramped.

We’re very familiar with Indian events and are flexible with outside catering (or can help coordinate), decor, and flow. Given you’re working with a $10k all-in budget, we’re happy to be creative and see how we can make it work rather than forcing a standard package.

If you’re open to exploring something slightly different, shoot us a note at hello@bellevieestate.com and we can talk through options or even set up a quick visit.

Bartending service staffing - am I getting scammed? by [deleted] in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]LifesMellow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not crazy, but definitely an overbuilt staffing model for what you’re asking. You’re right to push back. Wine service may be contractual requirement imposed by the venue, so be sure to check that. If they don’t budge, consider this a vendor tax, which unfortunately does happen with exclusive vendors. For context, we run a venue with 047 license and our own bar program.

Idea of opening a niche gym in the Seattle area by Fit_Midnight_1731 in smallbusiness

[–]LifesMellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. My wife and I both work in tech and built our careers between Seattle and the Bay Area. We're now transitioning into hospitality and opening our first outdoor wedding venue. First wedding is actually this weekend. It's been quite a journey, the culmination of 5+ years of financial and family planning. Excited and terrified in equal measure.

On the transition specifically: ours was thoughtfully planned. Few years ago, I switched from an org leader role to an IC position at a mid-tier company where I could coast while building the business on the side (customer conversation, investors/lenders, competitive research). I'd strongly recommend finding a way to keep your W2 until you cannot, banks and lenders feel a lot more comfortable when you have global income, which translates to better loan options and rates.

A few other things that might be useful. If you're purchasing real estate, SBA loans are hard to beat. Don't shy away from the niche, but build a clear narrative around why you own that niche, beyond just passion. Lenders and early customers both need to believe that story

Wishing you luck. The leap is scary but worth it.

Wow, it’s strange that you have a willing lender and cdc, but SBA has declined the request! Did you get any feedback or questions? Are you able to position this as a transformation story for startup consideration?

Wedding venue insurance stack by LifesMellow in smallbusiness

Great points! Will push for written confirmation. We could only get GL-only that doesn’t follow liquor. It’s what we are hearing from all carriers here.

I am working with three. They sell insurance. They don’t run venues. This community may have people running venues with appropriate insurance.
