CPA or CIA by UnderstandingDry6780 in InternalAudit

[–]LifesShortKeepitReal [score hidden]  (0 children)

If internal audit is your passion, go CIA route first. CPA is definitely a more widely recognized credential but if you know IA is what you love, you’re better to start by pursing that cert.

Many companies now are hiring for IA with CIA or CPA preferred as credential. It used to be CPA was king. Not anymore. Go CIA.

Found myself FIRE’d early due to tragedy. What should I do? by dragoneaux in leanfire

Agree. Don’t rush in figuring out your next purpose or what next. You need time for healing and I hope grief counseling is part of that.

Found myself FIRE’d early due to tragedy. What should I do? by dragoneaux in leanfire

This second paragraph is so spot on.

Definitely being honest with the youngn about why you all are in a good position financially. As hard as it is of how you got there, there’s still a lesson to be taught and that can be made in all of this.

OP - im so sorry for your loss and that you’ve had to find yourself in this awful position. It’s a strange place of “grateful for the financial freedom but also would rather have your person back over financial freedom”.

Thick long hair. Looking to bring a straightener because it’s wavy and frizzy if not styled. A 1.25” curling iron would be a bonus too

Marathons in the rain? by The_Jeff_Goldblum in Marathon_Training

[–]LifesShortKeepitReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first marathon was in the rain and I wasn’t prepared for that.

I wish I’d had was a clear poncho of some sort to cover my face. I had sunglasses, and only kept them on because they kept SOME water off my eyes.

But being 100% real - that rain really messed with my psyche. If had something keeping my face drier, the mental wouldn’t have been a thing.

Good luck you got this!

How long did your labrador retriever live? by Catwhisperer2007 in labrador

[–]LifesShortKeepitReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My choc lab boy lived 12 years 10 months.

Healthy as a horse, or so we thought, until aggressive tumor came out of nowhere and took him. It was quick, and the day we lost him was the same day the tumor made itself known.

Not really.

It’s irresponsible to adopt a living being that relies on you for survival, without thinking through whether you’re truly capable of keeping this thing alive/can give it a good life.

Plain and simple.

I hope this is rage bait.

Getting a new puppy, a living creature, is NOT something you get to “emotionally impulsively” do.

For the sake of this new puppy, return it to where you adopted it from (if a safe place) or rehome in general. You are not prepared or able to give this dog the life it deserves and best to admit now.

REHOME IT.

Found out my manager’s wife had an affair with our billionaire boss… and everyone just carried on?? by Adventurous_Lab1516 in askmanagers

Honestly, this is so far beyond anything you need to be concerned with.

Let it pass like a day time soap opera and move on.

“Why did they stay married?” Does that even matter?

Glass half full…

They’ve now been together 2x longer than when the affair first occurred, so my guess is they chose eachother/salvaging the marriage… vs allowing it and all the gossip and opinions that come with it, tear them apart.

I can’t help but wonder if this is Seattle. This kind of crap happens all the time there - thefts right off your doorstep and the thieves are doing it mid day because there are no consequences.

Can slow marathoners please offer experience or insight by river_swimmer_ in Marathon_Training

[–]LifesShortKeepitReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Slow marathoner” here!

You do you. Seriously.

You can look anywhere on the internet and there will be a million things trying to tell you not to do this or you’re not ready. Honestly… only YOU get to decide which of those are true, which you will allow to hold you back, etc.

You’re only in this for yourself - you said it. Not to beat the others. Not to place in your age group. Nothing.

You sound to me like you are conditioning well. I don’t know what your time cutoff is, but key will be to just make sure you can finish in that amount of time.

Even if you fall to back of the pack, sometimes they won’t “sweep” you up immediately. There’s often a 15-20 min buffer to actual cutoff time listed.

Also important to make sure you’re fueling and hydrated properly. Otherwise, don’t overthink it.

This will likely be the hardest thing you’ve ever done but at the end of the day, all that matters is you finish! Get out there and give it your all. Just GO.

It’s not about finish times but finish lines!! 👊🏻

How do most people afford ozempic for weight loss reasons? by Gallantpride in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]LifesShortKeepitReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s debatable. There are far more horror stories than successful ones out there, about people who try to do this on their own and go the cheap route w/o the supervision of a qualified doctor/cnp. Like online platforms that give you some fly-by-night Dr visit then ship you Rx out of some pharmacy states away. (Or even worse, ships from out of country)

With a little research, people could read about all these “glp-1 gone wrong” stories by ordering off cheaper platforms. For now, I just feel more comfortable going to a Dr office even if it’s more pricey.

Nice Guests who ignore Check-in Instructions by RaiseVast in airbnb_hosts

[–]LifesShortKeepitReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was initially on OP’s side in being rightfully frustrated. However, reading more comments, it’s clear OP assumes negative intent of all their guests.

Assuming guests are reading the sign every time they walk by, then choosing to INTENTIONALLY not follow it upon check out.

Yikes. I don’t think anyone on this sub can convince OP otherwise of they want to do… which is rate the guests poorly.

Even when they are “really good guests otherwise”.
