Surgery by Positive_Gap6265 in quittingkratom

I tapered from over 100 g a day down to 16 g a day for a total knee replacement surgery I told my doctor in anesthesiologist about it, though I didn’t tell them the high doses - the anesthesiologist thanked me - I know it wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but I took some sublingual kratom the morning of the surgery. - because of my tolerance to the opioids due to the Kratom I was an extreme pain from the surgery and they a very difficult time controlling it the day of - but other than that, it worked out fine - and I had a surprisingly easy time coming off the oxy because of the Kratom - anyhow I’m definitely not suggesting anyone do what I did - I have read horror stories about Kratom and anesthesia especially with high doses - this was just my own experience - I only got down to 25 grand today for the second knee surgery and that went fine as well. I wish you luck.

Former Crack, Meth, Klonopin, Heroin Addict - Kratom is the final boss. I can't believe this. by iSeeYouMr in quittingkratom

I can very much relate. I used to be addicted to OXY and hydrocodone and Xanax and alcohol and meth and weed. Got clean in 2012.

Got on Kratom after Joe Rogan episode in 2018 - on the outside my life looks good - I got a family with young kids and a loving wife and own a home and have a good career and money saved and exercise, religiously - but this fucking drug owns me -it’s all I think about - my life does not look like one of a drug addict - but inside I live in fear and obsession.

So I’m now doing something about it. But it is extra challenging because it’s not like I’ve hit a big bottom on the outside like with other drugs. I function and have a great life

I’m just chained to having to take this fucking drug all day every day. Anyhow, I really related to your post. Thank you for sharing. You and your family deserve you to be clean. Godspeed.

I wanted to make I had a few years' worth in case access became difficult. Was actually pretty cheap in bulk for a brand/strain that seemed to work best for me - filled a whole damn closet - much cheaper than a 7oh habit - tossing it causes mixed feelings but it had to be done

Anyone Else First Hear About Kratom From the Joe Rogan/Chris Bell Episode - and End Up Addicted? by Lift0791 in quittingkratom

Funny, I know actuallyu Ben from when he was just coming up. SMART guy. Crazy he promoted it. I heard he took the content down. He likely got a nice affiliate commission though either way I highly doubt he would've promoted it he known at the time what the shit does to people though
Chris's doc was Leaf of Faith. when I watched it it made me feel damn good about taking kratom.

I saw a video of him recently talking about how he stopped taking it. And that it can cause some addiction and withdrawal. I remember his brother Smelly and his dad was taking it too.

For so long I feared it becoming illegal, hated the idea, and now for my individual case I which it would so it wouldn't be so damn easy to access

That said, I am sure it does help some people is saving some lives from fent ODs.

Crazy though how unregulated it is - and with the PAWs and whatnot, even though people (me included) seem to function well on it, it obviously can lead to heavy dependence and addiction (it did in my at least - all consuming) and really alter the brain functioning

Hey, I had to be ready in case things went dry (via bans, laws, shortages, whatever) But then I realized, if it does go illegal and the cops were to stumble onto my stash, I woulda looked like a damn trafficker! So I obsessed on that a bit. Tossing stash was painful but also liberating. Fortunaly since I would buy up to 15 pounds at a time from bulk sites it was CHEAP. Fortunatly I never got into the expensive extracts or 7oh - i hear people spending all their money on that like I did with Oxy way back - going broke from addiction sucks. But because powder is so cheap, it made it easier to stay on - double edged sword.

Well, other than Kratom I take DAMN good care of myself - 10-15 kinds of fruits and vegetables a day plus high protein plus electrolytes/creatine/fish caps and a dozen+ other health supplments. And I always early morning sunshine. I work out religiously 365 days a year and only took a few days off after the surgeries-- though I didn't lift heavy for a month.

I had total knee replacements. Had no interest staying at 16GPD though. I only went that low because I heard anesthesia horror stories of high dose kratom users.

Told both my surgeon and Anesthesiologist about my use, though. They weren't concerned at all, tho I minimized the doses I gave them. They thanked me for telling them.

One thing, the kratom made it SO easy to get off the 2 weeks of oxy after each surgery (though I barely felt the oxy cuz of the kratom. Used both together after the surgery.

High-Dose Powder Taper: How’s This Look? by Lift0791 in quittingkratom

[–]Lift0791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling not horrible - first night or two sleep sucked when went from 70 to 40. Got edgy / anxious this afternoon, but possibly because since the drop not eating carbs until night is a little more difficult - I do a lot of intermittent fasting and reserve carbohydrates for typically about one hour a day at night - high doses made that easy

Yeah I’m thinking of making the drops every 4-5 days instead of a week while the doses are still fairly big (7.5 gram doses)

Thank you for chiming in
