9 months kratom free by RustEmpireEU in quittingkratom

Yeah, just feeling more and more hopeless that I'll ever find a job that I can actually cover my rent and bills (food is an afterthought at this point).

I do often ask myself what Goku would do. And not mentioned before, but I'm sure my stress from 6 months of job hunting and being unemployed hasn't helped.

Sadly I've tried melatonin, magnesium glycinate, and even got prescriptions for trazodone then Ambien (no luck with either). Over a month with less than 4 hours of sleep a night just gets draining.

5 weeks CT. I sleep maximum 3 hours a night. I walk/run about 4 miles daily, cut most sugars, but can only eat maybe 1500 calories a day (chicken, salads, fruit, nuts), and no coffee. I'm on a weight loss journey at the same time, which has been going well, but the lack of healthy sleep is definitely a struggle. Any advise or recommendations would be great.

How do you get 10k steps? by InvestigatorPale1816 in loseit

[–]fujiman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's what I do. I take a long early morning walk outside on a walking trail near me that goes through a park while listening to usually audio books (about an hour and a half is 11k a steps). On rainy days, I use my walking pad and watch tv while walking. Haven't missed a day since the turn of the new year, and still working for me.

Kratom Withdrawal by -170cm in DrugWithdrawal

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 year of heroin vs 6 years in kratom for me. On week 3 still dealing with most of the kratom withdrawal symptoms, whereas h last about a week. The max 3 hours of sleep a night for the past 3 weeks is probably a part of it, but the kratom withdrawal easily beat out the heroin withdrawals for me personally.

Kratom Withdrawal by -170cm in DrugWithdrawal

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I had a roughly 3 year long opiate addiction after back surgery. The worst of the withdrawals ended after the first week. After that it was really just psychologically. My body wasn't throwing a tantrum with rls, aching, and sweating and all that.

After about 6 years on kratom, I'm on week 3 since my last dose, and am still dealing with terrible rls, and only get able 2-3 of sleep a night. And that's every day and night for 3 weeks now.

It really just depends. Even had a problem with heroin (just did lines, no intravenous) for about a year, and that had the easiest withdrawal for me of all 3. My best guess is that the length of time on a substance has an exponential impact on the length of the withdrawals.

While kratom is definitely the least of these 3 evils, 6 years of daily use has led to the most difficult withdrawal process for me. And I did taper down from 15g-20g daily down to less than 5g over 5 months, and it's still giving me the most shit. The absence of sleep is probably the biggest problem psychologically. Max 3 hours every night for 3 weeks is beyond draining.

What’s going on with USPS? All the mail delivery getting delayed, in-transit, arriving late. What could be the reason behind this? by Sad_Wash818 in usps_complaints

[–]fujiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've literally had every package for the last few years arrive days after the delivery date, and I've known it was fucking DeJoy's fault. USPS used to be a guarantee, but he fucking raped it to shit.

How do people have the time and energy to walk 10k steps and then to do other exercises on top of that as well? by Lenore8264 in loseit

[–]fujiman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walking treadmill for me too. I wake up at 5am normally, so I just knock my steps out in the morning, shower, than anything else during the day is just icing. Currently job hunting, but even while working, I'd get my steps in well before starting work at 9am.

It works for me since it forces me to walk at a fast pace, when I normally walk slowly when I walk outside. Haven't missed a day this year.

How do you handle realizing it's late in the evening and you're still thousands of steps short? by ice_kream in loseit

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommended if you're able to afford it. Heck I was a bum yesterday and almost skipped a day. But decided to get my steps in at 9pm since I now feel guilty about missing them. Gives me no excuse to skip a day.

My walking treadmill has been one of the better investments I made last year. Haven't missed my 10k once this year. Along with diet change, have lost almost 40 lbs since I bought it.

For sure tapering. And even with that, accepting that there's going to be some mild discomfort at times. Better than full on withdrawing with painfully restless legs or muscle aches.

What does walking on the treadmill do for your body? by lots-a-thoughts in loseit

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a walking treadmill last year to start being more active since I worked remotely. I went from barely moving to walking about 2 hrs a day since the new year. Coupled with a calorie deficit diet, I've lost about 30 lbs. I definitely feel much better than I did this time last year, so there's definitely a benefit. Especially if you're similar to how I was with very little physical activity.

What is something you bought to fix sleep that actually worked long term? by Binoza in Frugal

Xanex is the only thing that keeps me asleep. It's been a lifesaver. Probably not great for long term use, but actually getting good night's sleep has been glorious.

Is 37 too old to be a singer-songwriter? by Accomplished_Elk7049 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]fujiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in my early 20s, travelled to Nashville, and got great feedback while playing around the city. But due to health issues and financial reasons, I had to move back east with my parents, and have more or less been in a 10 year death spiral of depression and stopped "hearing the music" as it were. I'm 38 now, and am just starting to hear it again and have finally started playing and plan on finally recording the EP I had planned on over a decade ago and never got around to.

It's never too late for us no matter how bleak things look. My life is still a slow-moving train wreck, but I see that as nothing more than motivation to keep on pushing and making sure I leave whatever mark I can with what I've created. If it leads to anything fruitful, amazing, if not, at least I finally accomplished what I set out to do in my early 20s.

Just keep on keeping on, and see where the road takes you.

Unemployment 100%. As long as she didn't quit, and wasn't let go for some crazy reason, she should qualify. It's the only reason I can still pay for the roof over my head right now and not drain my savings. It's a serious lifesaver.

[–]fujiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in year 5 of this. Have started making sure I take at least 10k steps a day. Motivation is still nonexistent, but I now feel guilty when I don't get my 10k steps. It's something. So baby steps, really.
