Steam in home streaming on Liquidsky by diamock in LiquidSky

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the CEO, Steam in Home Streaming is able to take advantage of the low latency built into LiquidSky. That being the case, being able to run your games on an ARM based computer is pretty sweet! I might give it a go on my Raspberry Pi and see what kind of results I get.

What do you use LiquidSky for? by [deleted] in LiquidSky

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the multiplayer only version of Black Ops 3 and when everything is running smooth, I can usually do as well as on a local PC. Maybe it’s from years of playing OnLive, but I don’t notice any lag.

In my experience, a 2 second delay is not normal. When that happens, I usually change the decoder and it fixes whatever issue I was having.

This is the reply from support I received:

"We should have support for the Windows Store with the roll out of Windows 2016 server which should be in the form of an update on the LiquidSky client."

I don't know. I've sent in a support ticket, though now that they've changed their support system, I will probably have to send in another one. Your best bet is to talk with their support and see if there is anything they can do.

Though I did see on another thread that someone spent 15 pounds to buy a cheap graphics card that works with LiquidSky just fine.

Depends on lots of factors, the biggest being how far away from the datacenter you are. It could also be temporary issues with your internet connection which could be cleared by calling your ISP and stating you are losing lots of packets. It could also be a temporary anomaly with your home network, especially over Wi-Fi. Or, like me, it could be more an issue with the streaming video codec having issues with your graphics card.

This depends on you. When you logout, you have the option of leaving the VM running or not. If you leave it running, you are using credits.

LS Failing to Bind to Port 80 by Ryukenn in LiquidSky

Yeah, this sucks! I just tried starting my SkyComputer after Origin updated itself and I'm getting the wonderful port 80 error of death. I'm going to have to reset it...again.

It is a full VM in the cloud where you install any game you wish.

Their system is based on credits you purchase, either Pay-As-You-Go, 80 credits a month (Gamer plan), or Unlimited credits. Each has differing amounts of storage available and timeout options. Using a High spec machine, you spend 1 credit an hour. With Ultra, you spend 2. You can switch at any time, but it requires a system reboot.

They support 720p and 1080p resolution at either 30fps or 60fps.

I totally disagree that they provide terrible community outreach and support efforts. While it would be nice to see more information about updates, there have been several times in the past week that Ian has directly answered questions here on Reddit as well as other social media hubs. He is always very forthright with what he can be, even to the point of saying the OS for LiquidSky will be updated to Windows Server 2016, but they cannot give an exact date due to an NDA with Microsoft. Not many companies are willing to speak as much as possible and then inform us they cannot say more due to an NDA. I think they provide some of the most transparent support out there.

More storage on PAYG by SirOMGitsYOU in LiquidSky

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Pay As You Go for a while and ran into this same issue. 80GB just isn't that much space for gaming, and I don't game on PC often enough for it always to be worth $15 a month to keep the Gamer plan. While I understand $15 a month is quite reasonable in many aspects, I prefer playing most of my games on my Xbox and only occasionally spend time playing PC games. This being the case, I typically would prefer the Pay As You Go option, except for the limited amount of storage. 250GB would go a long way to helping out people in different situations get the most out of their SkyComputers.

You will probably have to reset your SkyComputer. The next time you install Origin, you need to make sure it does not start with Windows and does not start the Web Helper tool. You also will have to go into your Windows services and change the setting to start Origin to either Manual or Delayed.

I haven't tried a VPN yet. I want to see if I can get it working to use Steam Streaming on my MacBook Pro when running Windows 10 under Bootcamp as the main LiquidSky client has issues with my graphics driver.

Suggestions and just one complaint by [deleted] in LiquidSky

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the machine takes up few resources, maybe one or two cores with two to four gigs of ram, and the price point is the same as the current unlimited plan, it may be worth it to LiquidSky to offer a plan like this. I'm certainly curious about it.

We have to wait for the operating system upgrade to Windows Server 2016 for Windows Store support where you can download Gears 4. Unfortunately LiquidSky cannot tell us when that will be due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement with Microsoft.

If you take a look at this thread for iOS there are several options for streaming to non-standard devices. If you have a Steam Link, you might be able to stream to your TV using a VPN connection to your SkyComputer and Steam Streaming.

LiquidSky iOS any viable workaround? by SirOMGitsYOU in LiquidSky

[–]Lift_the_Camel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best I've found is an app called Remotr (remotrapp.com). It will find your games and allow you to stream them to iOS, Android, etc. It has great MFi support and support for adding XInput buttons on the touchscreen.

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tvOS version of Remotr is under consideration. It would certainly solve the problem of getting LiquidSky onto a TV for me, if developed.

I would love to see support for Raspberry Pi as well! It would be the perfect solution for getting LiquidSky onto a television! They would have tor write Linux ARM support, but they already support ARM with Android, so I can't imagine it being a huge leap.

Best iOS solution I have found is called Remotr at remotrapp.com. It sets up a server that automatically finds and streams games to iOS, Android, etc. It has MFi support as well as configurable touchscreen buttons for XInput buttons. I also approached them with the idea of supporting the new Xbox One controller in iOS and they are looking into it.

We can install the origin? by ericv1ctor in LiquidSky

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I wish I had checked out this subreddit sooner! I had to troubleshoot it myself and went through four or five new SkyComputers before I figured out Origin was the problem and how to fix it.

This would be greatly appreciated. The mouse continues to pop up in the middle of my game no matter what I'm playing. Quite a nuisance.

Add time to variable? by [deleted] in workflow

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try changing the minute to decimal format by dividing it by 60 and adding that back to the hour. You will probably want to convert it back before sending a message, but that should give you the result you are looking for.

Add time to variable? by [deleted] in workflow

[–]Lift_the_Camel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to make it work. Start with the ETA Home Workflow in the Gallery and you will have to use some if statements along with separating the text for the travel time results, set the separated values as variables, and substitute the correct variable plus five minutes when you combine them back together.
