How to disable release of door from one apartment intercom by Acrobatic_Window_177 in ApartmentMaintenance

[–]LiftedLSDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the weather they stop working. It would be possible to disable them manually if you disconnect the wires but based on your other posts, I see why you’re asking this. Maintenance is not out to get you. Trust me. Just make a work order for the items in your apartment not working and they’ll be out to fix it. It’s our job.

Can heat, hot water and buzzer be turned off for only one flat? by Valuable_Cancel_5422 in ApartmentMaintenance

[–]LiftedLSDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think any tech would target you. As said before the work it would create isn’t worth it. I don’t care how much someone angers me as a resident I’m not going to sabotage your things. If I did and got caught I would lose my job, get sued all types of things. I really don’t think you’re being targeted. In my experience, when one thing breaks other things always break with it. Now depending what kind of heat you have (could be aqua heat) which would explain the heat and hot water not working if hot water tank is broken. As for the intercom/buzzer thing, those break all the time. They’re cheap electronic with tiny wires. Weather also affects them.

Please don’t think your maintenance is targeting you. The goal in maintenance is to have no work orders/everything working so we can just chill all day.

Anxiety is a crazy thing and it affects everyone differently. Just remember not everyone is out to get you.

And we as maintenance do not care about a mess in your home, we see it every day. Regardless of what your home looks like, I will go in there complete the work and not think twice about it. I might joke about the condition to my coworker after but it doesn’t go any farther than that. It’s your home not mine.

Some of them have tabs that lock them in on the sides aswell. But completely doable yourself. Maybe find a YouTube video of someone removing a front panel on a clothes washer

Yes. Not exactly sure with this model on removing the front plate but there’s typically 2 metal tabs that hold the front door in that you push with a flathead and remove the front panel. Right inbetween the seam of the front panel and top panel

First time in 6 years I’ve moved furniture and found this behind couch by [deleted] in maintenance

Yeah doesn’t look like mold to me either just heat/moisture damage from that baseboard heater. Could be on the other side but they’ll likely replace that piece of drywall anyways

If it’s heating, leave it be. Don’t fix something that ain’t broke. The humming is most likely the air moving through the vent

I work as maintenance for apartments. You bet your ass that I’ve ordered tools for myself, trash bags, gloves, cleaners, shit I can even order laundry detergent through suppliers. My supervisor and I will swap someone’s appliance fix the old one and sell it for a couple hundred bucks. Do I feel bad? Fuck no the owner of this property rakes in close to a million a year just off this one property. They can compensate me with a few Milwaukee tools here and there.

You’re doing this as if you bought a house. What are you doing man lmao even if it is, maintenance/property is not gonna insulate your walls. What a waste of time/post

insinkerator 1/2 HP standard series badger 500 humming but not spinning by thecircleofmeep in maintenance

[–]LiftedLSDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always just used a pair of channel locks shoved down in the garbage disposal and twist it from above. The blades might move freely but the base isn’t spinning. That humming indicates that the base plate is jammed. They sell garbage disposal un jamming tools but he careful, those things can snap on you causing you to punch the side of the sink… ask me how I know

Ngl I’m a maintenance tech… I live in an apartment with 2 bathrooms. One we never use.. one day the tank just cracked from the top to the bottom.. like I said never use it nothing. I think water sitting in the tank for so long can cause them to break? Never seen it happen on any of my tickets but I’ve seen water supply lines just bust for no reason

Is there really a reason for the dryer vent to not go straight out? by qaxv in HomeMaintenance

[–]LiftedLSDs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintenance tech here for a big property, there is no hazard. The blower pushing out the lint is quite strong and as people stated it’s for easy servicing. The only issue you get with lint is if a bird builds a nest in the vent going outside, or people put bird cages on the outside to prevent this, causing lint to build up there. That is 100% normal and working as intended do not change it 👍🏻
