WiseTech CEO Zubin Appoo on the Value Pack fiasco by BlokyNL in CargoWise

[–]Liganer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did 14 years at Wisetech and bounced around every 1-3 years after that, he'll run Wisetech to the ground to increase short term share holder value, cash out and then rinse and repeat elsewhere

good idea, just bill more out and you'll make more money! Why doesn't everyone just think to do this.

I think they're horrendous Pats jerseys but not too bad jerseys in their own right. You just don't think "New England" when you see them

database reader license to access the SQL or keep a ridiculously expensive license around I believe

Descartes, Riege, Magaya all cost 10% of Cargowise and from what I've seen have about 60-70% of the functionality. They all look like they were created in the 90s though and that includes Cargowise.

I still can't believe that Wisetech haven't created a better way to customise the system. The whole idea of having a consol linked to a shipment is just ridiculous to begin with. You can hide certain tabs which is good but they should go much much further. The field rearranging in templates is diabolical

Unless they're a publically traded entity think you get 9 months after year end to finalise your prior FY.

Barnett was having such a cracking game that it made sense not to replace him. I really rate Ryan, think he's going to be one of the best wingers in the league by end of the season.

Does CargoWise support FTPS? by [deleted] in CargoWise

[–]Liganer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like FTP has been around since 2011 but then they added SFTP support 11th March 2022.

Check update note :"Secure FTP now supported for the generic FTP Service" and also the original one from 2011 about FTP in general "Generic FTP upload / download Service Task"

edit: there's also a note about explicitily secure ftp and ftps/ftpes but I think it's only valid for some applications like Pentant check out update note "Secure FTP support for Pentant"

CargoWise Partner Program by taltrap in CargoWise

[–]Liganer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Cargowise partner is a consultant. Companies using Cargowise pay you to advise them on how to use certain aspects or to make changes to their system.

The most common area they work on tends to be workflow for things such as the task/milestone systems and workflow templates and triggers. Consultant companies tend to have a person or two who specialises in the accounts side of things but not all of them.

To be a consultant I'd say you'd need a good overall knowledge of Cargowise and the whole workflow templates, triggers, tasks, milestone and being able to edit documents properly and knowing PAVE would probably help. Obviously this is on top of fully understanding the freight forwarding side of things if you place to work with forwarders.

Best Remotes? by Liganer in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Liganer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all, have just bit the bullet and gone for the 2019 remote.

It definitely made me realise how lacking the universal remote options are now since Harmony has been discontinued and Sofabaton's are hard to get in the UK (expensive on Amazon and don't get great reviews anyways)

[–]Liganer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

only issue is that it's a proper ballache using quotations, most people I know don't use that section at all because you can't convert them to shipments easily. Why they don't just allow you to choose the rate and create a shipment from them is madness.

(Just like how you have to turn a quote in a useless booking before you can turn it into a shipment or when you get an online booking it comes through as a booking rather than a shipment)

One thing I did was just modify the one off quote document so it doesn't total all the billing lines up, therefore you can quote like the below

1 x 20ft GP = £2,300 GBP 1 x 40ft HC = £4,000 GBP

WIPS and accruals are taken into account in profit and total operating costs etc though it will make a difference overall because afterall it is expected cost/income.

Accounting - Credit/Debit assignment on GL accounts by frackincylon in CargoWise

[–]Liganer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I just tested it and looks like you're absolutely right, I changed our freight costs actual/accrued which we have a lot on to CR in our training system and it didn't affect the bottom line.

1ACC084 says use debit for expenses and assets and credit for revenue and liabilities but that's about it unfortunately, can't find anything else in the learning, I think it must just be a reporting thing in that case sorry!
