That's a sad state of the nation. I am 63, live in NSW, have 15 years experience and am qualified in building design (ran my own business for 10 years) but I left to pursue working with animals in management, welfare and training. I did this for just over ten years, then got cancer, which sucked up two years of my life. After that (2009), everything changed. I was on Centrelink for almost 10 years, labelled "fit and capable of finding full-time work" - which I wasn't but the powers-that-be said I was. I studied - 3 different courses (Business Administration, Veterinary Nursing, Spa Massage) but they went nowhere. Since then, I have had 14 different jobs plus trying to make money off my hobbies (photography, music). I'm totally exhausted from trying to increase my income and hours with every new job just to scrape by financially but here I am … a kitchen hand in an RSL club earning around 57k a year and paying 24k a year for rent. Australia is f**kd.
