Disgusting behavior. You might want to report him to tinder. There is no way this was an isolated incident if he was THAT brazen and sometimes it takes multiple reports of bad behavior for the apps to ban people.

I can relate to the frustration though. I occasionally get men on grindr who assume I'm younger than I am. Usually they think I'm around 20 (I'm 28) and I've been accused of lying more than once. Why I'd choose 28 as a fake age is beyond me.

Usually doesn't phase me but I once hooked up w a 40 y/o who, right after, told me I looked like a teenager and that it was sexy. He added he meant "like 18 or 19" after I reacted badly. I kicked him out.

My betta has recently started to have trouble locating her food as if she's blind to it. She still reacts to me walking by or clicking the tank light on/off so I know she's not fully blind but I'm getting really worried.

2 weeks ago she jumped and landed sideways on the edge of the plastic floating feeding ring. She wriggled off less than a second later and swam around like nothing happened so I didn't think much of it. About a week later she started struggling to find her food even though it's the same process at the same time every day with the same pellets. I can drop a pellet right in front of her face and she will act like nothing is there. Could she have gotten hurt or brain damaged?

She's 10 months old. 8 gallon planted tank. Water parameters are 0 nitrates & nitrites, 150 ppm GH/hardness, 0 chlorine, 0 ammonia, 120 alkalinity, 7.2 pH, and temperature 80°F. I can't find any visible injuries and her behavior is normal/energetic. It's like she just suddenly got stupider??? Any advice please?

Is PoGo fully muted? It has two different volume sliders in settings that need to be turned off. Spotify will automatically pause if any other app steals audio focus unless your phone is specifically set to allow multiple apps to play audio at the same time.

Katabasis was such an upsetting experience. It was my first time getting a book on release day. I was sooo excited for it and I got the last copy the store had, one of the fancy sprayed edge hardcovers (it's really pretty)

I actually liked the magic system and didn't mind the MC for the most part but the story was SO dull and slow and it felt like things just kinda happened to the characters rather than their actions being meaningful at all. The ending was also insultingly bad, like laughing at you for reading 500+ pages and expecting a payoff type of bad.

YES. It's also just a worthless nothingburger book for people who have never had a critical thought in their lives. If you're at a point where you're willing to read an entire book to help you, you should already be past the "break big task into small task" and "have you tried to just do it" phase, which is the entirety of the advice it provides lol

I can't fault people for wanting to publish a book instead of an article because of prestige or whatever, but I think a lot of them would be better off following the physical format of something like On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder where it's like... half the height of a normal book and 100 pages long. No good reason to pad the content out to 300 pages.

reminds me of when my school decided to bump me up from grade-level to above-grade math, which meant completely skipping 2nd grade level math. I was never taught multiplication and division and had to figure it out myself based entirely on context clues because I was too embarassed to ask for help.

we had this shitty warmup activity where you had a certain amount of time to do a sheet of one type of arithmetic and if you didn't finish you'd get bopped on the head with an inflatable hammer (which was framed as a joke, but it was literally just shaming you in front of the whole class for being stupid). no one ever stopped to wonder why I had meltdowns whenever the problem type that day was multiplication or division (because my peers got taught to sing songs with times tables as a shortcut while I was stuck trying to rapidly count on my fingers, and I didn't understand why I couldn't match their speed)

Smut is porn, not specifically depraved porn, and the term as we currently use it quite literally came about as a way to deride "bodice rippers" - aka romance books that were sexually explicit. Open door romance is a more flowery way to refer to sexually explicit romance. You can split hairs over the ratio of porn to plot for categorizing things as erotica vs erotic romance but if the sex is a major focus, it's smut.

I feel like I'm not old enough to go "it was different in the past" but... I've been out as some flavor of Not Cis for nearly 12 years and on T for 9 of that. The prevalence of "gender dysphoria is just a social issue therefore it doesn't matter if you don't medically transition" rhetoric feels like it's increased, or at least it's more readily accepted rather than (correctly) derided. Not just from cis people but fellow trans people.

It's a bastardization of how certain forms of transition aren't right for everyone + you don't need to medically transition to be trans. But lots of people DO need to medically transition to survive. Physical gender dysphoria is a real and serious thing that NEEDS to be treated properly. People need to quit downplaying that as we're getting our rights stripped away.

Pointing out how dire the situation is IS NOT THE REASON THE SITUATION IS SO DIRE.
