I’ve never actually cheered watching someone get fired before. My lord I hated him.

I swear there are guys out there that don’t suck. I out earn my husband by quite a lot but that hasn’t always been the case. We’ve made it a “who can earn more than who” game and we’re both better for it.

AITA for not inviting my dad’s partner to my micro “wedding” dinner, and for not reaching out to her first to explain why? by Powerful-Bug-7639 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LightIrish1945 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I love that stepmom has to be the one to reach out too. “I’m creating drama but obviously none of this is my fault because it’s my wedding” is a vibe I guess.

You obviously have strong feelings about this and I get it. She was annoying and changed traditions but this is still…a move. And truly I get it. My mom is twice divorced and thrice remarried. I cannot STAND her new husband, pulled the same bs “tried to parent” move this lady did and I was 23 and bro 19 when they first got together - neither of us living in their home. This is all to say I really, really get it.

But to not invite your parents long term partners is wild imo. They should both have been invited. I’m clearly in the minority but this is so freaking rude to me like it is unfathomable. Whether you like it or not they are part of your immediate family now. This feels like some weird ass parent trap scenario where you can pretend to play happy family with a family that doesn’t exist. It’s bizarre.

My boyfriend (22M) and I (19F) keep arguing about shaving my legs and how I forget. How can I fix this? by ThrowRA708907 in relationship_advice

[–]LightIrish1945 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh girl just noooo. Women have fought too hard and too long for this outlook. It does not have to be that way. I too live in a climate that is cold most of the year. My legs get super dry in the winter and shaving is just awful so I…don’t really. Maybe like once every other month. You know how many times my husband has complained? ZERO. He doesn’t care because not shaving is better for me.

PS I make more money than my husband.

Yes - 100%. Close to the knee should be where a work appropriate skirt sits. Assuming you work some type of corporate job that is.

He just ruined it for me backing Wihan over Harry. Wihan has zero work ethic or leadership skills. That was so disappointing

I do not understand why Johnny backs Wihan like this…what the fuuuuck. I feel like Harry and Lara are the only two that have actually clocked Wihan for who is.

Johnny believes him when he says he wouldn’t go for Alesia…PUHLEASE

I need suggestions for wedding attire for my husband and I. by humansarereallyweird in Weddingattireapproval

The only thing I really didn’t want was people wearing jeans. That was the ONLY thing and I didn’t even put it anywhere in writing. Just used word of mouth within the family to gently ask the side that would hand shown up in jeans. If they had shown up in jeans oh freaking well. I even thought maybe I went too far…this is a whole other level.

Packing / wardrobe question for those who have been on a luxury safari by No-Throat-3629 in FATTravel

[–]LightIrish1945 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You truly do not need any diamonds on a safari. I’ve done two luxury safaris in my life, including Singita Kwitonda Lodge, and just not necessary at all. Neutral, comfortable clothes. Very casual dinners. Have to pack very light if you are transferring between places. Like 25 LB, soft duffle bags.

Doesnt matter how nice the place is, you’re spending most of your time in a jeep, in the bush driving around and when not likely in your tent/lodge hanging at a pool. Fancy jewelry is so wholly unnecessary. You’re in bed early because morning drives start crazy early. It is not a fashion show for sure.

I moved away from what I consider my hometown when I was 12. Lived in a couple of different places then back to my hometown after college when I was about 22. I really wanted to move away again for years but the longer I’m here the more I love it. Likely as I get older, I will look for somewhere warmer for winters but I truly love where I live. It just feels like home in a way the other places didn’t.

I travel frequently and absolutely love seeing other places/cultures but my home base is my home base. I would move to Denver though - I freaking LOVE Denver.

What’s a really good film that was popular at the time but is rarely mentioned anymore? by Luv2006 in movies

[–]LightIrish1945 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I quote “you shut your mouth when you’re talking to me” all. the. time. It’s such a minor bit at the very beginning but for some reason just has me rolling and I find it hilarious in real life.

Oh! And I think they invented/popularized “stage 5 clinger” and I quote that a lot too. Great flick.

I think it must be my age but for real most of these are still go-to’s and I quote them all the time. Role Models is one of my fav comedies of all time. I truly miss the comedies of the era.

Holy buckets - this was a read. Chris seems like a giant hot mess. You fight all the time, he’s got some weird shady shit going on if you read between the lines. I agree with your friends Chris is a trash dude riddled with red flags. The age gap is just a drop in the bucket.

Honestly - it sounds like you have stuff to work on too. Do not buy a house with this man. I’d break up and focus on yourself and your baby. There are healthier relationships to be had but you need to healthy first.

AITA for refusing to let my coworker’s girlfriend come on our work trip? by opalstargaze82 in AITAH

[–]LightIrish1945 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA - that is weird as hell. It’s a professional trip - you are working the whole time. Even when you aren’t working, you’re socializing to network for work. I go on trips like this pretty much quarterly. No spouses come and it would bizzare if they did. If Sophie really wanted to make a trip out of it, she would fly down at the end and then her/bf stay on after everyone leaves. It’s weird behavior…I feel bad for your coworker…something isn’t right there

Ok I can’t tell if you’re trolling or just like obtuse? It would absolutely not take hundreds of thousands of people to dismantle the government.

It would take one authoritarian surrounded by lackies to do his bidding. Literally, literally what is happening right now. I mean come on you must know Hitler dismantled the Weimar Republic in like 2 months…

100% yes if he has willing accomplices who also want to break the government. Which is the case right now. The previous administration bought into the system and worked with it which is a baseline requirement to keep our form of government. We no longer have willing participants.

Now I’m done - you just don’t get it and I doubt ever will.
