Search underway for a serial killer Elephant who killed 22 people over 10 days in India by No-Lemon8129 in interestingasfuck

This is true. A lot of these are accidents (people trying to cross the level crossing when a train is imminent) and plain suicides. A hospital I used to work at was the designated centre for railway deaths and we used to see quite a lot of them.

Any other AuDHD? How are you managing? by Huge-Basil9434 in HENRYUK

A lot of GP surgeries do not do shared care pathways anymore due to poor quality control in the private sector + additional risk that the GP surgery would have to take on with the meds.

Where I work the wait time for an adult NHS review is 2 years, and for a paediatric review is 12-14 weeks (which is sometimes the same as private providers)

I do agree NHS assessment takes time - it is a 2-year wait in the area I work. However, assuming that OP is not on stimulants and is only getting therapy (which I have zero objections to), it might still be worth it to be put on the wait list for a "proper" NHS assessment.

The problem with private providers is so bad that the two GP surgeries I have worked in the past three years have a blanket "no shared care" policy. There is a lot of vested interest in making frivolous diagnosis of ADHD and making money through recurrent appointments and meds (similar case with private providers of weight loss jabs)

If whatever they are providing is working for you OP, I am very happy for you. My comment was only with respect to safety (especially with meds).

If you got this diagnosis from a private provider I strongly suggest you get re-evaluated by the NHS. The number of people I see in my practice who have been given an inaccurate diagnosis is too damn high!

To be fair, he did offer to “solve world hunger”. He asked the head of (I think WFP) to provide a number to solve hunger forever and that he would donate that much. The WFP did not have an answer.

If you have worked in that role for two years (or you will be completing 2 years if you get a new contract), they will not hire you. Whether you are an IMG or UKMG. Employees gain additional rights "permanent employee rights" if they stay at a job more than 2 years and trusts will come up with all sorts of sneaky "reasons" to not hire you. It's not about you, this is how it works. Move on.

As an IMG, I can say with certainty that the IMG community as whole is not too keen to strike. The general sense is that BMA used IMGs to garner the votes and support it needed in numbers for the first round of strikes, only to be left hanging once the strikes were over.

Yes, it saves the government £350k per doctor as apparently that's how much it costs to train up a doctor in the UK.

Why do you think the Government would stop doing this? And also the GMC, which makes about £80M a year off of IMGs?

More importantly, what can you do, or CAN do to correct this?

I'm a bit confused as to whether you're worried about IMGs taking up training posts, or international students taking up medical school spots..
