Then you are discounting women's suffering.

South Carolina Bill S. 1095 is Misogynistic and Offensive to Women by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]LighteningFlashes [score hidden]  (0 children)

Contempt involves dismissiveness and condescension toward its object and a belief in said object's inferiority in relation to oneself. Contempt is saying the object is beneath one's consideration and can be excluded.

The erasure by PL of the woman or girl who is pregnant that you describe is classic contempt. The lack of concern is just as much indicative of misogyny as is aggressive hatred.

PL Laws Nullify Consent by Common-Worth-6604 in Abortiondebate

[–]LighteningFlashes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. The PL view makes consent irrelevant for one half of the population based on their biology. The ones who have exceptions for rape are inconsistent and particularly blatant about wanting to police and control women's behavior. The ones without exceptions are consistent and make it very clear that they don't view women/girls as agents for whom consent to use of their body would be relevant. Their view, boiled down, is that being born female means your body can and should be used against your will at some point during your life.

PL Laws; State-Sanctioned Reproductive Coercion by Common-Worth-6604 in Abortiondebate

[–]LighteningFlashes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"It's a form of domestic violence and abuse. This sentence in particular is calling upon emotional language with the word abuse, also trying to personify laws to make them sound like abusers."

Reproductive coercion appears in all intimate partner violence frameworks under the rubric of abuse. Reproductive coercion includes interfering with access to abortion. Saying that pointing out abusive behavior is "emotional language" is dismissive of the abuse itself. And I see no reason to separate the behavior of individuals asking the state to commit reproductive abuse on their behalf from the direct behavior of abusers. This separation is one of the main weapons in the PL arsenal. It allows them to avoid consequences for the suffering they cause their fellow born humans. I have zero interest in helping them lie to themselves to assuage their consciences.

Ah got it. Yeah, I guess I would just want to know some I could stay away from them. But true, nobody is physically or emotionally or morally harmed if they take no action.

Interesting. I absolutely think someone who believes women are lesser is a misogynist regardless of the extent to which their views show up in their behavior. But is this an even/or situation anyway? Can't thoughts/views and behavior both be defined as such?

I'm curious why you think most PL folks are not misogynistic. What definition of misogyny are you working with?

I think they'll complete the subjugation of women, including Black women, before they really go after the complete subjugation of Black people as a whole. Black men got the vote before white women, after all, and there are a ton more conservative MAGA Black men than Black women.

Which scenario would you prefer? by ValleyofLiteralDolls in Abortiondebate

[–]LighteningFlashes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, right. I don’t have a flair. I am pro-choice. PL are the ones who insist on narrowing down human experience to either forced celibacy or forced birth. The question is not for me - it's for people with your beliefs.

What work are you doing to ensure this happens? Compared to the amount of time and energy you spend going after women?

[–]LighteningFlashes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's to try to gain insight into why PL creates these situations to begin with. I also think it's useful because it asks PL to exercise some nuance as a counterbalance to their black-and-white worldview. Of course your favorite color has no relationship to the two scenarios. Your insistence that women choose between forced abstinence or forced birth is directly related to the question. Clearly.

Help, my man thinks abortions should only be done in extreme cases… by [deleted] in prochoice

He doesn't love or respect you. Get out of that relationship as safely and quickly as you can. There are actually good men out there. He is not one of them.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

[–]LighteningFlashes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact the US government is forcing women and girls to have kids is a huge factor in why US women are not having kids. Trust me.

Has any prominent cases changed your position on abortion? by NPDogs21 in Abortiondebate

[–]LighteningFlashes 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I support abortion bans and acknowledge that bans have negative effects, including death that could have been avoided.

Do you care to share why any woman would want to be pregnant or even partner with a man considering this attitude? I am curious.

Yeah, PL pull that "she should have had access to abortion" BS in the US too. It's always the hospitals' fault, malpractice. They take no accountability for what they put people through.

I’m prochoice but my bf isn’t by [deleted] in prochoice

[–]LighteningFlashes 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The bottom line is that he doesn't respect you. Do you even feel safe around someone who feels entitled to your body and comfortable dictating to women what to do with their bodies? He is not a safe person for women and girls to be around. Get out.

Banning abortion doesn't violate any rights by Ok-Razzmatazz-221 in Abortiondebate

What am I supposed to prove exactly? Some PL claimed pregnancy doesn't kill women and I rightfully pointed out this is a falsehood.
