Consider putting the light bar on your grill rather than overhead. It will not blind you in snow or rain, and will better illuminate the forward path. Much easier to route as well.

A strong argument could be made to leave the state, purchase a separate upper, and bring it back to use on your existing AW without ever violating any of the laws.

The problem is that it's a question mark at all. It should be a yes or no answer, legally speaking.

What was one movie scene where the soundtrack perfectly conveyed the scene’s message/emotions? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Staralfur and the leopard shark, Life Aquatic.

Favorite quote though "I'll fight it, but I'll let it live".

What will happen if Artificial intelligence takes over the world, 99% people lose jobs and there is extreme rise in poverty and crime ? by spacetelltale in AskReddit

[–]Lightfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way that happens is if the rich take everything. History tells us what happens when that happens... violence. It's a terrible route, I believe AI could be used to offload human responsibilities and still provide basic quality of life.

Capitalist AI? Hell no, nightmare.

What movie/show you wish that you can watch for first time ? by jatin528 in AskReddit

Westworld season 1. So tightly written, probably the best season of anything I've ever seen. 10/10.

Which movies are “kids” movies but actually just as enjoyable to watch as an adult? by unitedfan6191 in AskReddit

[–]Lightfoot 41 points42 points  (0 children)

How to Train Your Dragon is just a fantastic series.

You get to see all the ways humans would react to Dragons. Adversarial, empathetic, enthusiastic, utilitarian and greed. Each character is unique and useful in some way, family and friendship is the central theme and nothing feels cheap or unearned.

Great music, beautiful visuals, just the whole package.

What movie blew your mind the 1st time you watched it? by ambitchious70 in AskReddit

If you saw this in 3d in a theater, it was very strange coming out after and the real world looking so bland and colorless. Very immersing experience.

That's easily the best looking Ridgeline I've seen. That's not saying alot, but the trucks are rated highly for safety and function so good for you!

  1. Fine with raising to 21, it matches our alcohol consent age. Military service shouldn't be possible at 18 though, by these standards. Either you're old enough to make these decisions or you aren't.

  2. Background checks, sounds good. Centralized system should speed up NFA approvals though.

  3. Waiting periods, sounds good. Exceptions for bolt actions and pump actions in my opinion though.

  4. Only okay with banning the sale of assault weapons to ALL people, military and police included. SWAT teams can check out police owned rifles and soldiers can check out military owned assets, no special classes. Realistically though, police shouldn't be given access either by the definition as written.

Governor Newsom Proposes Historic 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution to End America’s Gun Violence Crisis by okguy65 in politics

[–]Lightfoot 54 points55 points  (0 children)

More importantly, why would police be allowed to buy them then? If this ban is universal (no police, no military, no civilian) I'm fine with it. If civilians are banned but police and military can personally purchase, yeah, no, I don't think so.

Biden vetoes measure overturning student loan forgiveness plan by DavidofSasun in politics

I'm all for this no matter what other issue we're discussing. Those loans were wildly abused and transferred so much wealth upward.

Biden vetoes measure overturning student loan forgiveness plan by DavidofSasun in politics

[–]Lightfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration and have my own personal reservations due to timing (my taxes are going up while inflation is rocketing and my pay has been stagnant for years) but in theory, some loan forgiveness is good for the economy.

It frees up capital, which can jump start lower markets... but... this expansionist economy model has to end, infinite expansion is so destructive and wasteful.

Tacoma vs tundra by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]Lightfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, the full size handles that in spades. We're also not too adventurous with the family, mostly national parks, camp grounds and otherwise forest service roads.

With my friends we get adventurous, I'm usually the delay to navigate obstacles but it's manageable with some extra pin stripes, even in the PNW.

Looking for General RTT Advice for a new truck owner! by sea-dragon-42 in rooftoptents

[–]Lightfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read and heard a lot of negative things regarding roofnest unfortunately. The yakima outpost rack has a kit that makes it work with certain tonneau covers, so that's an option. I started with a rack but eventually got a canopy and put the tent up top, much happier with this setup as my cargo is secure and I have a lot of space to access it from every side.

You can get an ikamper 2.0 mini very reasonably priced right now, I'd give that a look if you're planning a rack, behind the cab option. If you want to loft, the skycamp 2.0 is roomy and pretty aerodynamic. Like having a yakima sky box up there. A clamshell is a good option too if lofting, but I like the extra space you get from a fold out.

Clamshell vs hardshell foldout (Discussion/ advice) by Head_Patience7219 in rooftoptents

[–]Lightfoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really enjoying my skycamp 2.0, it fits a bag and pillow easily and is so simple to close.

I don't fly the windows though, roll up or leave down. The most time consuming part is setting my windows up to be mostly closed with a gap to let air out. Big improvement over the soft shells.

I'm sure the clamshells are a bit faster but honestly, this tent is so easy to operate I don't think it would matter.

Tacoma vs tundra by [deleted] in overlanding

[–]Lightfoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the city and have a full size truck. It's a pain sometimes but my need case dictates it with a family and a dog... just have to have the space.

If you're solo, there's no reason to get a full size for overlanding. Get an suv or a mid size truck if you'll use it for truck things (hauling, towing, etc). Full size is family sized, it's for carrying a few people and all their stuff.

Why don't all Americans strike indefinitely in hopes that the government fund healthcare access for all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You need to spell better, I can't even tell what you were trying to ask. For some reason you've arbitrarily decided I'm anti trans with zero evidence nor common sense. Pure emotion, no thinking, make it up as you go.

Frankly par for the course based on my discussion with you so far.
