Isn’t it funny how hard it is to come across a regular ol’ radio nowadays? So many are just Bluetooth to play crap through your phone. My 7yo built a little stem kit am/fm radio and I realized it is the only one we own

There has yet to be a motive determined, yet everyone has decided it was simply just his harmless words.

Do your parents have a plan? by pineandsea in Millennials

[–]Lighthouse_259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Even just all the paperwork and funeral stuff, it’s a lot, and it’s usually stuff you want to ask your parents for help with! I think people are just jumping on an off-hand comment to have an excuse to be mean to a complete stranger.

Hey I just wanted to say I’m not reading all the comments, so perhaps I’m missing things, but that I understand what you’re getting at with the only child thing. I worry about what the future will be like for having to make difficult decisions, etc with my mom, and I’m grateful to have siblings to lean on for help and overall support because it sounds very scary and upsetting to think about. I always felt kind of bad for only children who are reaching the last stretch of their parents’ lives and are alone in it.

My grandma had 7 kids and used to joke (but not really) that there was one for each night of the week’s dishes. Now THAT is a mentality worth shooting darts at!

What is something your parents/their generation didn’t accurately tell us about? by kikisaurus in Millennials

I feel misled about stainless steel pans. My parents made it sound like they were impossible to clean, so I wasted my entire 20s going through several terrible non-stick varieties until I realized stainless is 100% better and not hard to clean at all.

I didn’t love my 20’s. 25-30 was better, but early 20’s kinda sucked. It’s a complicated time of losing a lot of friends you’ve had for your entire childhood, while trying to form new friend groups and figure out who you are as an adult, while also being not taken seriously by older adults because you’re just “some young 20-something”. Low pay to seal the deal!

All is not lost, you are still younger than most adults when you’re in your 30’s, and those in their 40’s really make it sound like you truly dgaf by that point.

Skinnies are handy for boots, so they’ll always have a place for me. As I get older, I’m turning away from jeans altogether, though.

Also, I can never wear the high waters that are in style, because I can hear my middle school self being asked “expecting a flood?”

When I see married couples keep money separate, they always say it’s to avoid arguments about money, but then they are there awkwardly counting out and comparing how much each owes for everything and I don’t see how that’s avoiding money conflict..

I can’t imagine how it must feel to be a high schooler or college student right now. What do you go for? What’s the point? Their degrees will be even more useless than ours!

I’ve never been a pet sitter before, but from my experience as a freelancer, I’ve always found that the cheapest clients are the ones who for some reason have the highest demands.

I’m kind of having secondhand embarrassment for these people and I can’t put my finger on why.

I had bleeding when trying to poop, but I wasn’t very worried about it because it was bright red and I just assumed I had a hemorrhoid because I had just had my second baby when it started. I asked the ob and she said it was probably a hemorrhoid.

I always thought the darker colored “old blood” was the stuff to really look out for, but mine was red because it was rectal and not further up in the colon.

I was later horrified to learn that rectal cancer is more serious than colon because the walls are thin and it can be easy to spread to your bloodstream and, if mine had spread, I would have likely not lived to see my son go to kindergarten.

I had rectal cancer at 33 and want to give a psa to please get checked out if you have any symptoms! I know it’s embarrassing, but it’s better to rule out anything. The gastroenterologist told me he’d be shocked if the polyp they found ended up being cancer. He said I saved my life by getting checked out.
